Role description
Data Scientist (GenAI) - Developer Productivity - Github Copilot A highly advanced engineering function requires a Data Scientist/GenAI Specialist to join their team. They are investing heavily in Generative AI and modern engineering tools to improve productivity, quality, and software delivery at scale. They now seek someone to lead advanced analytics across Generative AI tools and shape how AI-driven development is measured, understood, and improved across the enterprise. You will define and deliver the data science strategy for evaluating GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude, identifying where they add the most value, where outcomes vary, and what drives those differences across teams, workflows, and engineering contexts. Your work will directly influence how AI tools are adopted, governed, and optimised across global engineering teams. Key Responsibilities • Lead the analytical strategy for GenAI and AI tool adoption across engineering • Build frameworks to measure impact on productivity, SDLC flow, and DORA metrics • Identify adoption drivers, blockers, and best practices for AI-enabled development • Translate complex analysis into clear, actionable insight for engineering leaders • Develop dashboards, insight products, and evidence packs for senior stakeholders • Partner with engineering, product, and programme teams to shape AI strategy Experience • Strong background in data science within software engineering environments • Experience working with SDLC, deployment pipelines, and DORA metrics • Proven ability to translate complex analysis into actionable business insight • Familiarity with GenAI tools, especially coding assistants like GitHub Copilot • Strong communication skills with ability to influence senior, global stakeholders • Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous, and evolving environments This is a high-impact opportunity at the forefront of enterprise GenAI adoption.
