Role: Data Scientist β AI in Commercial Banking
Location: Remote within the UK, hybrid attendance only when required
Type: Contract (6 Months, Inside IR35)
My client, a global IT services provider, is seeking a Data Scientist to support a high-impact AI initiative within a commercial banking environment. This role sits within a collaborative delivery team focused on advanced analytics and machine learning solutions that drive strategic insights and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
β’ Collect, clean, and preprocess structured and unstructured data from diverse sources
β’ Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover trends and anomalies
β’ Design and implement data pipelines in collaboration with data engineering teams
β’ Apply feature engineering and selection techniques to enhance model performance
β’ Build and validate ML models for prediction, classification, clustering, and optimization
β’ Use libraries such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch for supervised and unsupervised learning
β’ Implement NLP, time-series forecasting, and optimization algorithms as needed
β’ Collaborate with MLOps teams to deploy production-grade pipelines
β’ Communicate insights through dashboards and visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or Python
β’ Engage with stakeholders to define use cases and success metrics
β’ Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to the enterprise AI roadmap
Required Skills
β’ Proven experience in data science and machine learning
β’ Strong Python skills and familiarity with ML libraries (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
β’ Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Matplotlib, Seaborn)
β’ Ability to translate complex model outputs into actionable business insights
β’ Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
β’ Familiarity with Agile methodologies and cross-functional collaboration
β’ Background in banking or financial services is a plus
