Role description
Senior Data Scientist (Remote, 4–5 Month Contract-to-Hire) Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and product-minded Senior Data Scientist to join our initiative focused on conversation intelligence within healthcare. This role involves evaluating and improving large language model (LLM)–based summarization of clinical conversations. The successful candidate will work closely with data science leads to design analyses, test AI-generated notes, and help scale solutions to large datasets. Responsibilities • Analyze unstructured text data (conversational transcripts) and evaluate AI-generated clinical notes. • Design methodologies to assess whether summaries miss critical details or introduce hallucinated content. • Collaborate with data scientists and product leads to frame ambiguous problems into actionable analyses. • Develop scalable workflows, ensuring efficiency and cost control as analyses move from small sets to large-scale datasets. • Provide product-level insights to guide stakeholders on AI tool performance and usability. • Collaborate with engineers (later phase) to support automation, ML Ops, and potential POC builds. Required Qualifications • Strong proficiency in Python and machine learning libraries. • Experience working with unstructured text data and NLP techniques. • Familiarity with LLM evaluation, especially in summarization tasks. • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and comfort with open-ended, ambiguous challenges. • Ability to contextualize technical findings into product-relevant insights. • Exposure to ML Ops or lightweight prototyping. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in healthcare data, clinical informatics, or AI scribe technologies. • Background in evaluating LLM hallucinations and summarization accuracy. • Prior work scaling analyses efficiently (e.g., managing compute costs, optimizing pipelines).
