Role description
Job Title: Data Scientist/Engineer
Location: Washington, DC
Type: 12-month Contract
Contractor Work Model: Hybrid – onsite 1-2 days per month
Responsibilities
• Develop algorithms, scripts, and predictive analytics using AWS Sagemaker, AWS Bedrock, AWS AgentCore, and other AI & ML tools to turn disparate data into objective decisions.
• Build and maintain machine learning models and Gen AI solutions, including selecting features, optimizing classifiers, and enhancing data collection procedures.
• Apply data mining techniques, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling to improve business processes such as claim processing and provider prediction.
• Process, cleanse, and verify data integrity; conduct ad-hoc analyses; and present clear results to stakeholders.
• Create automated anomaly detection systems and continuously monitor their performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to extend ML/AI services to new business cases and plans.
Requirements
• BS Degree in STEM or higher; 7+ years of overall experience with at least 1+ year in Generative AI and AWS Sagemaker.
• Experience in predictive modeling, data science, and machine learning, including techniques like support vector machines, neural networks, and gradient boosting.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL; experience with NoSQL and cloud database platforms like Snowflake.
• Experience developing Generative AI solutions with LLMs and customizing models to solve business problems.
• Minimum of 2 years applying data science/analytics within the health insurance/healthcare industry.
• Experience with cloud services such as AWS Sagemaker and MS Azure, and analytic tools including Spark, Hive, Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
• Strong understanding of statistical and mathematical modeling, experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, and proficient with Linux/Unix commands and version control tools.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and present findings effectively in a fast-paced environment.
