Role description
BIICS, Inc is looking to fill a Data Scientist position. The position is located in Tallahassee, Florida and work is onsite. Responsibilities: Lead and collaborate with the Bureau of Epidemiology’s (BOE) data management team and oversee data standards, policies, and procedures. Perform various data requests and respond to data-related questions on behalf of BOE. Use statistical computer scripting and programming languages and other software and tools to digest, manipulate, prepare, augment, evaluate, analyze, summarize, and visualize data. Train and educate employees on data management processes and associated documentation. Act as liaison between BOE’s data management and governance teams to verify data availability, quality, and feasibility in requests. Execute data science projects from conception through implementation, including conducting exploratory data analysis and data mining, developing model specification requirements, and conducting advanced statistical analyses. Develop an automated method for actively disseminating information to stakeholders through technical solutions. Utilize machine learning and natural language processing techniques to identify data quality issues, anomalies, and outliers and fix issues where possible. Potential candidate must possess the following: Data Science Experience: Two years of experience utilizing data programming and data visualization software, such as R, SAS, SQL, Python, Qlik, Tableau, and Power BI. Experience in performing analyses and evaluation of systems, projects, and programs. Two years of experience in data collection, data analysis techniques, data management and processing. Knowledge of data privacy and data security. Two years of experience in data extraction, manipulation, and transformation. Experience developing data analytic products and providing analytic support. Two years of experience performing data science-related work. Microsoft Office Experience: Two years of experience in the last five years with the Microsoft Office Suite; including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Education: Master’s degree in data science, biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, or related technical or quantitative field. Preferred: Experience working in a specialty area, such as public health or healthcare, and/or working with data visualization software and programming. Advanced skills in Excel and Power Query.
