Role description
Data Scientist - Sales Operations (Contract)
Location: Remote (US Based)
Contract Length: 3 Months Initial Contract
Rate: Up to $110 per hour
Travel: 2 x 2-3 day trips to San Francisco during the project
The Opportunity
We're partnering with an innovative B2B SaaS organisation seeking a Data Scientist with strong Sales Operations and GTM Analytics expertise to support a high-impact territory planning and quota optimisation initiative.
This is a hands-on contract role focused on developing predictive models that support territory design, quota allocation, and attainment forecasting. The successful consultant will work closely with business stakeholders to create data-driven frameworks that influence strategic sales planning decisions.
This engagement is centred around proof-of-concept and modelling work rather than production deployment, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex business problems using real-world commercial data.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop attainment models that connect territory composition factors such as account volume, TAM, pipeline, industry mix, geographic distribution, and opportunity potential to historical sales performance.
• Build predictive quota allocation models that align sales targets with financial plans and historical attainment data.
• Design and validate territory optimisation methodologies for both Sales and Customer Success organisations.
• Analyse and model large exported datasets using statistical and data science techniques.
• Validate model outputs against historical business performance and stakeholder expectations.
• Partner with business leaders to refine assumptions, test hypotheses, and present recommendations.
• Document methodologies, assumptions, and modelling approaches to ensure knowledge transfer and future scalability.
• Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders and support decision-making processes.
Required Experience
• Strong background in SaaS Sales Operations, Revenue Operations, GTM Analytics, or Commercial Strategy.
• Proven experience working with territory planning, quota setting, sales performance, or attainment analysis.
• Hands-on data science experience applying statistical modelling techniques to complex business datasets.
• Experience working with imperfect, real-world commercial data rather than purely academic or benchmark datasets.
• Strong stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving environments with evolving requirements.
• Excellent written documentation and presentation skills.
Technical Skills
• Strong SQL and Python (or R) experience.
• Advanced Excel and Google Sheets capabilities.
• Experience building predictive models and applying statistical techniques to business problems.
• Ability to work directly with exported data sources and spreadsheets rather than fully integrated data warehouse environments.
• Familiarity with model validation, forecasting, and business performance analysis.
Nice to Have
• Experience with territory design, quota planning, or sales compensation programmes.
• Knowledge of Salesforce data models and CRM reporting structures.
• Exposure to rules-based, AI-driven, or agentic modelling approaches.
• Experience working with Customer Success operational datasets.
Contract Details
• Initial 3-month contract.
• Fully remote engagement.
• Up to $110/hour.
• Two short business trips to San Francisco (2-3 days each) during the engagement.
• Potential for extension based on project requirements and performance.
