Mode : Hybrid 3 days WFO
Job Description:
The Data Scientist will design and implement data-driven solutions that enable DBT to make informed, evidence-based decisions. With a background across government, financial services, healthcare, and e-commerce, they will bring a robust analytical approach to large-scale datasets, supporting discovery, alpha, and beta phases in line with GDS service standards.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, dashboards, and machine learning models using Python, SQL, Django ORM, and PostgreSQL.
β’ Use data visualisation tools (Tableau, Power BI, Plotly) to communicate insights clearly to both technical and policy stakeholders.
β’ Apply predictive analytics and natural language processing to support user behaviour analysis and policy design.
β’ Collaborate within multidisciplinary Agile teams including developers, designers, and researchers to embed data insight into service design.
β’ Deploy and optimise models using AWS ECS Fargate, Lambda, and S3.
β’ Ensure data security, ethics, and GDPR compliance across all solutions.
Experience
β’ Over 6 yearsβ experience in data analytics, modelling, and applied statistics across government, retail analytics, and financial services.
β’ Recent (2022β2025) delivery of citizen data dashboards for a cross-government digital transformation programme.
β’ Previously supported machine learning-driven credit risk analytics for a financial institution and demand forecasting systems in retail.
β’ Demonstrated success embedding data products into Agile digital delivery pipelines.
Qualifications & Certifications
β’ MSc in Data Science / Statistics.
β’ AWS Certified Data Analytics β Specialty (2024).
β’ Agile Practitioner certification (Scrum Alliance).
β’ GDS Data Ethics and Responsible AI training.
β’ Certified Python Developer (PCAP).
