Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to support the Electric Operations Excellence team within the utilities/energy industry. This role will focus on translating complex business needs into advanced analytics and machine learning solutions that drive operational excellence.
The ideal candidate will lead end-to-end data science initiatives—from model selection and training data identification to deployment and business delivery—working closely with product owners, technical leads, and internal stakeholders to deliver high-impact insights on a regular cadence.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead development of high-complexity data science and machine learning models
• Build, train, evaluate, and implement advanced analytics solutions
• Translate business problems into well-defined data science use cases
• Select appropriate models, algorithms, and training datasets
• Communicate model performance, assumptions, and business implications to stakeholders
• Prioritize analytics initiatives for maximum operational impact
• Balance analytics value, model design, and technology choices with a bias toward action
• Mentor junior data scientists and collaborate on complex analytical problems
• Develop process models, documentation, and business artifacts supporting technical architecture
• Create and manage quantitative models, forecasting tools, and simulations
• Partner with cross-functional leaders and business units on analytics initiatives
• Analyze business demand trends, forecasts, capacity planning, and expenditure models
• Assess risks and implications of modeling assumptions and methodologies
• Oversee complex projects, schedules, and work plans
• Deliver customized reports and executive-level recommendations
Education & Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Econometrics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Sciences, Statistics, or related field
Desired Skills & Experience
• Experience with Python, R, Scala, SQL
• Hands-on experience with Pandas, Scikit-learn, Spark, or similar frameworks
• Experience with data science notebooks (Jupyter, Zeppelin, etc.)
• Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or other platforms)
• Scrum/Agile team experience

• Experience with forecasting, Bayesian networks, and graph analytics
• Strong statistical modeling expertise
