Role description
Data Scientist – Energy Markets (ML/Analytics) Houston, TX – LOCAL APPLICANTS ONLY 5 months with extension or possible conversion to perm Onsite in Houston, Monday–Thursday, work‑from‑home on Fridays W2 Rate $56-58/hr – NO CTC NO THIRD PARTY Required: • 3–5 years of experience with Python and Pandas, including strong data manipulation and analysis skills • Solid understanding of data exploration techniques (grouping, duplicates, outliers) • Knowledge of basic modeling concepts (time series, applied ML, supply/demand) • Strong hands-on experience with core data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) • Proven ability to apply data science concepts in real-world projects • Ability to clearly explain and demonstrate technical work • Comfortable working independently without AI tools or external assistance • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or quantitative field Day to Day • Work as a hands-on individual contributor supporting Gas & Power analytics on the trading floor • Use Python for data engineering, data exploration, and fundamental modeling • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights • Build and support models related to supply/demand and time series analysis • Create basic data visualizations using Power BI or Plotly • Work onsite in Houston (Mon–Thurs) with remote work on Fridays (mandatory)
