Data Scientist

Job Title: Data Scientist Location: Remote Job Type: Contract Role Overview You'll be part of an insurance analytics team responsible for developing next-generation analytics tools that support client benchmark analytics, claims analytics, and insurance insight products. You'll work with modern technologies such as Databricks, Python, SQL, and AI/ML frameworks to transform insurance data into meaningful business insights. Key Responsibilities • Design and develop analytics tools for claims analytics, benchmark analytics, and insurance reporting. • Curate and maintain high-quality data products using Databricks and modern cloud analytics platforms. • Build, test, and enhance analytical and predictive models using Python, SQL, and machine learning techniques. • Analyze policy, premium, exposure, underwriting, and claims data to generate actionable business insights. • Collaborate with analytics leaders, actuaries, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into analytical solutions. • Document analytical models, data pipelines, and methodologies to ensure scalability and governance. • Contribute to the adoption of AI-enabled analytics and continuous improvement of data products. Required Skills & Experience • Master's degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. • 1–3 years of experience (including internships or graduate research) in Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance. • Understanding of Claims, Policy, Premium, Exposure, Underwriting, or Pricing data. • Strong hands-on experience with SQL and Python (R is also acceptable). • Familiarity with Databricks or Spark-based environments is highly preferred. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications • Progress toward CAS or SOA actuarial exams is a strong advantage. • Experience with claims analytics, benchmark analytics, pricing analytics, or loss analysis. • Exposure to Machine Learning, AI, MLflow, or scikit-learn. • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other visualization tools. • Knowledge of insurance carrier, brokerage, or reinsurance operations is a plus.
