Role description
Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on Data Scientist to support the growth of our expanding data science department. This role is ideal for someone with a strong machine learning and data science background who can work closely with both business and IT teams to deliver practical, scalable solutions. The right candidate will be comfortable building modules, developing predictive models, and supporting multiple stakeholders across the organization. This individual should understand not just how to build models, but also the science behind data science—someone who can apply sound statistical and machine learning methods to real-world operational data. Key Responsibilities • Build and develop data science modules and analytical solutions to support business initiatives • Partner with business and IT teams to translate needs into scalable technical solutions • Support multiple team members and stakeholders across projects, serving as a key hands-on contributor • Analyze large, complex datasets and develop actionable insights • Design, build, and deploy machine learning models, including predictive models • Work with time series data to identify trends, patterns, and forecasting opportunities • Develop models to help predict equipment downtime and improve operational performance • Work with data from SCADA systems and industrial sources • Support use cases involving IoT / sensor-based data • Perform data analysis, model validation, and ongoing performance monitoring • Contribute to Python-based development for analytics and machine learning applications • Communicate findings, recommendations, and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Required Qualifications • 3–4 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics • Strong background in machine learning, statistics, and predictive modeling • 2+ years of hands-on Python development experience • Experience working with time series data • Experience building models for forecasting, anomaly detection, or predictive maintenance • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to turn raw data into business insights • Experience working within a Microsoft technology stack • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with both business and technical teams • Proven ability to be a hands-on contributor in a growing team environment Preferred Qualifications • Experience in oil & gas or other industrial environments • Familiarity with SCADA data • Experience with IoT data or connected device ecosystems • Experience supporting cross-functional teams in a fast-growing department • Exposure to Azure-based data or machine learning environments
