Data Security Program and Assessment Engineer

Title: Data Security Program and Assessment Engineer Contract Duration: 6-months to start Location: Remote, US Only Target Pay Range: $60-$75/hr (Skill/experience dependent) What You Will Be Doing • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current structured data security environment Analyze existing People Process and Technology across our data framework including platforms like BigQuery and Snowflake to identify gaps against industry-leading practices • Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Data Security guiding the technical design and requirements for new security-centric solutions Your expertise will be integral in defining access control integrity and data validation for structured data • Translate assessment findings into a clear prioritized security roadmap Partner with engineering teams to ensure 360-degree security analysis is applied to all pre-flight and in-flight projects • Provide hands-on leadership where needed to implement new security controls ensuring adherence to ITIL standards and industry best practices Use your deep DBA knowledge to secure the underlying data infrastructure Core Experience • 5+ years focused on database administration data security or security architecture in complex enterprise environments • 10+ years of overall industry experience Financial Services or Healthcare experience is a plus • Demonstrated experience as a GRC Assessor or in a role heavily involved in compliance assessments and developing secure-by-design requirements • Expertise in securing modern cloud data platforms like BigQuery and Snowflake is highly desirable Key Technical Proficiencies • Extensive experience in Database Administration capacity planning health monitoring and security management • Deep knowledge of database security protocols and best practices for securing relational database systems • Experience with database design concepts including views triggers and stored procedures • Strong understanding of common vulnerabilities and attack vectors in data environments Soft Skills and Background The Ideal Candidate • Self-Starter Mentality This is a greenfield program You must be highly motivated well-organized and comfortable taking initiative to drive assessment and design with minimal oversight • Communicator and Consultant Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complicated technical risks and strategic solutions to both technical and executive audiences • Programmatic Thinker Ability to look beyond individual tasks to develop enterprise-wide processes and structure
