Role description
A very well-known non-profit client is looking for a data specialist to assist with the below:
Job Description:
Seeking a detail-oriented Data & Research Associate to support the Advancement team with data review, prospect research, and CRM data quality improvements. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, conducting research, and improving data quality to support fundraising
strategy. The primary focus of this role is reviewing contact record data to identify missing city/state data, researching accurate location details using LinkedIn, iWave, and other online sources, finding connections to other donors/advocates, and making updates in Salesforce. This work will directly strengthen our prospecting, donor identification, and cultivation efforts across both UHNWI and small-dollar supporters. Prior Salesforce experience and strong attention to detail are preferred; iWave experience is a plus, but comfort with learning new tools is essential.
Key Responsibilities
▪ Review and audit existing Contact records from CRM, with a primary focus on identifying records missing city and state information
▪ Research and validate Contact location details using tools such as LinkedIn, iWave, and general internet research
▪ Support broader data hygiene and cleanup efforts as needed (e.g., duplicate review, formatting consistency)
▪ In some cases, accurately update city and state fields directly in Salesforce following established data standards
▪ Ensure high levels of accuracy and documentation to support downstream reporting and prospect scoring initiatives
▪ Collaborate with Advancement Operations to ensure data updates align with fundraising and research workflows
See below for details on our Top Priority Projects.
Tools you may use:
▪ Excel / Google Sheets
▪ LinkedIn and other online research tools
▪ iWave (experience preferred, training provided if needed)
▪ Salesforce (experience preferred or willingness to learn quickly)
Preferred Experience & Skills
▪ Prior experience working with large datasets in spreadsheets or CRMs,
including data review, validation, or research.
▪ Experience in prospect research, fundraising operations, CRM support, or data quality roles is a plus
▪ Prior experience working with Salesforce preferred but not required.
▪ Strong attention to detail and comfort working through large datasets
▪ Ability to research, validate, and synthesize information from multiple sources
▪ Organized, reliable, and comfortable working independently with clear
guidelines
Top Priority Projects
1. Address Lookup for Advancement Prospect Pool: To help maximize travel and consolidate in-person connections with key prospects
▪ City, state, and country information
▪ Exact address(es)
▪ LinkedIn profile links (for research, connection purposes)
1. SWAG File Reconciliation: Some of our strong network of advocates are not
currently in Salesforce, but do exist within our SWAG Excel. We’ll need to:
▪ Identify contacts missing from CRM
▪ Ensure all data is properly formatted, based on OW standards
▪ Upload new contacts using the pre-approved template
▪ Validate connections between Executive Assistants and who they support
(field links)
▪ Ensure appropriate affiliation mapping (affiliated contacts)
