Role description
Aurum Research Limited is looking to hire into its London based research office, based in Fitzrovia. Aurum Fund Management Ltd. is a hedge fund investment specialist investing client’s capital since 1994, focused on solely selecting hedge funds and managing fund of hedge fund portfolios. Aurum’s purpose as a business is to grow and protect not only client’s capital but also our environmental capital, our planet and our social capital and we express this through embedded impact. Aurum is a flexible and dynamic organisation, encouraging a collaborative and innovative working environment. At Aurum, we understand creating a culture of equality isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s also the smart thing. Diverse companies are more innovative and better positioned to succeed. Everyone is welcome – as an inclusive workplace, people can be themselves in an environment that both supports and includes them. Your Role: We are hiring a Data Storytelling Engineer on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will report to the Head of Data Science, working closely with Marketing, Research and IT engineering teams, to design and operationalise our next-generation content and visualisation engine. The goal is to replace manual, Excel-based performance reporting workflows with an automated, validated, multi-channel system that transforms data into high-impact institutional communications. This is not a graphic design-only role and not a database maintenance position. It is a build-and-operationalise mandate focused on how institutional data is consumed, visualised, and distributed at scale. We are looking for someone who will incrementally optimise existing workflows while introducing new frameworks where appropriate. The role provides scope to reshape the system, not simply operate within it. Key Responsibilities: ·        Architecture & Automation: Design and implement automated, version-controlled content pipelines. Build multi-channel rendering workflows (web-to-print, slide generation, image exports). Ensure numerical validation and production-grade reliability across outputs. Automate end-to-end workflows, eliminating manual data copy/paste across channels. Establish a scalable visual identity across all institutional materials. ·        Outputs will include: Institutional presentations (pitch decks, investor updates), Web dashboards, Email campaigns, social media, Print-ready reports. ·        Visualization Systems: Develop a reusable, scalable visualization framework aligned with Aurum’s visual identity. Enhance institutional presentations with comparative performance frameworks. ·        Insight Enablement: Build analytical modules that surface statistically meaningful performance patterns. Enable Research and Marketing teams to operationalise insights at scale. ·        AI Integration (Governed): Integrate LLM-based narrative systems grounded in fixed SQL outputs. Implement automated cross-checking and structured review workflows prior to publication. Qualifications & Experience: ·        Data & Engineering: Advanced Python and SQL. Experience building ETL pipelines and treating transformations as code. Strong version control and reproducibility practices (CI/CD and Git). Automated validation of numerical outputs. ·        Visualization & Front-End: Deep understanding of interactive data visualization principles. Experience with modern visualization frameworks (e.g., D3.js, Vega, Plotly, or similar). Experience building reusable component libraries using modern web frameworks (React, Next.js, Vue, Svelte, Angular, or equivalent). ·        Automation & Rendering: Experience developing automated rendering workflows (e.g., Puppeteer, Playwright, headless Chromium, or similar). Ability to generate presentation-ready PDFs, slide decks, and visual assets programmatically. ·        AI & Systems Thinking: Experience integrating LLM and APIs into structured production workflows. Ability to design verifiable, reproducible, data-grounded AI systems. Awareness of governance considerations in financial communications. ·        Profile: Strong editorial judgment and ability to translate complex performance metrics into clear narratives. Comfortable operating cross-functionally in a flat organisational structure. Bias toward automation over manual repetition. Please note that all candidates must be eligible to work in the UK. We are committed to ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process. As part of our efforts to efficiently review and analyse applications, we may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist in processing the information provided in your CV.
