Data Strategy Lead

Data Strategy Lead (Contract) Location: London/Hybrid (1 day a week) Outside IR35! (6-12 months) A leading UK professional services organisation is seeking an experienced Data Strategy Lead to shape and drive its enterprise-wide data strategy. The firm advises a broad range of clients across regulated and complex environments and is investing in data as a core strategic capability. This role will focus on strategy, governance, and long-term vision, working closely with senior leaders to ensure data initiatives are aligned to business priorities, regulatory requirements, and client needs. Role Responsibilities The Data Strategy Lead will: • Define, own, and maintain the firmwide data strategy and multi-year roadmap • Establish and embed data governance frameworks, standards, and operating models • Ensure data initiatives align with business objectives, regulatory obligations, and risk management practices • Work with senior stakeholders to prioritise data investment and value creation • Drive organisation-wide adoption of data practices and promote a strong data-driven culture • Provide strategic direction on enterprise data capabilities and platforms (without hands-on delivery) • Act as a trusted advisor across business, technology, risk, and compliance teams Required Experience • Demonstrable experience in a Data Strategy Lead, Head of Data, or senior data strategy role • Strong expertise in enterprise data strategy, governance, and operating model design • Proven ability to influence and engage senior leadership and executive stakeholders • Experience operating within regulated or advisory-led environments • Ability to translate business strategy into clear, actionable data priorities • Comfortable working across complex, matrixed organisations Desirable Experience • Background in professional services, consulting, financial services, or regulated industries • Previous contract or interim leadership experience • Exposure to large-scale data transformation or change programmes Please note this is a contract role outside of IR35.
