Data Tech Lead 📍 Houston, TX (Hybrid) | 🌍 Global Energy Organisation 📅 Initial 6-Month Contract | 🔄 Expected Extensions | 📈 Programme Planned Through 2 Years I'm currently supporting a global energy leader in the search for a Data Tech Lead to drive the architecture, engineering, governance, and strategic evolution of enterprise data platforms. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior data professional to lead the delivery of modern cloud-based data solutions, shape technology roadmaps, and influence enterprise-wide data strategy within a large-scale, complex business environment. The role offers an initial 6-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension, supporting a programme expected to run for approximately two years. The Opportunity As the Data Tech Lead, you'll provide end-to-end leadership across data architecture, engineering, governance, and capability development. You'll partner closely with business and technology stakeholders to deliver scalable, future-ready data platforms that unlock measurable business value. Key Responsibilities ✅ Lead architecture, design and delivery of enterprise data platforms and ecosystems. ✅ Define data product roadmaps and drive solution delivery across modern cloud technologies. ✅ Develop and optimise high-performance data pipelines using Azure and Databricks technologies. ✅ Drive data governance, security, lineage, metadata management, and quality initiatives. ✅ Champion CI/CD, automation, and touchless deployment frameworks ✅ Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and executive leadership. ✅ Lead technical teams while ensuring alignment with business and technology strategies. Required Experience • 12-17 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, Analytics Platforms, or related disciplines. • Strong expertise across: • Azure Data Factory (ADF) • Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) • Azure Functions • Databricks • Delta Live Tables (DLT) • Structured Streaming • SQL & Python • Spark / Scala • REST APIs & Logic Apps • Hands-on experience with data modelling and enterprise data architecture • Experience with Unity Catalog, governance, security and lineage management. • Strong CI/CD knowledge including Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions. • Experience working with containerisation technologies and Kubernetes. Desired Experience • AI/ML, Generative AI, and Agentic AI applications within data engineering environments. • Kafka, Hadoop, Spark Streaming • Airflow, Azkaban, or Luigi workflow tools. • Power BI and/or Qlik Sense. • Azure, Databricks or AI-related certifications.
