Role description
Our client is seeking a freelance designer to support a short-term project focused on animated data visualizations that must be completed before a presentation scheduled on October 23. The project involves creating dynamic, map-based animations that illustrate the impact of community banks, credit unions, and retail banks across the United States. The ideal candidate will be skilled in both data visualization and motion design, capable of transforming static charts into engaging visual narratives. Data Visualization Designer Responsibilities β€’ Collaborate with the client and strategy team to understand data storytelling goals. β€’ Translate static comparison maps and charts into animated sequences (10-30 seconds). β€’ Create smooth transitions between datasets, including zooming into regions/states and toggling map points. β€’ Pair animations with simple copy to highlight key takeaways. β€’ Deliver production-ready assets optimized for presentation use. β€’ Participate in strategy calls and provide creative input throughout the project lifecycle. Data Visualization Designer Requirements β€’ Proven experience in data visualization and motion graphics. β€’ Proficiency in tools such as After Effects, Tableau, Mapbox, D3.js, or similar. β€’ Strong portfolio showcasing animated data stories or map-based visualizations. β€’ Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines. β€’ Excellent communication skills and comfort collaborating with cross-functional teams. β€’ Availability to start immediately and commit through mid-October.
