Data Warehouse Sr. ETL/BI Developer

Position Details The position functions as a Senior Information Technology Analyst responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing automated data warehouse applications . The resource will represent the team and coordinate activities with other data warehouse teams on complex, multi-team projects. The position will also work with data warehouse developers to review existing policies and practices, modify them as needed, and propose new policies or practices. Strong knowledge of SQL, Business Intelligence tools, and relational databases is required to develop and maintain data warehouse ETL processes and queries. Required Skills • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical study. • 6+ years of experience creating Data Warehouse BI applications, including ETL/data mart development, reporting, dashboards, and information analysis and delivery systems. • 2+ years of experience with Child Welfare Services, Juvenile Justice, Juvenile Services, or related areas. Preferred Skills • Experience with SQL Assistant or Teradata Studio. • Ability to work independently with minimal direction. Other Desired Skills • Experience with State of Michigan PMM/SUITE/Agile methodology. • End-user training experience. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to communicate effectively with programmers, analysts, management, system users, operations, other state agencies, and private-sector organizations. • Experience gathering requirements and analyzing business problems. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. • Experience working with Data Modelers and developers. • Experience modifying logical designs to create physical designs suitable for reporting requirements. • Ability to design applications considering data reconciliation, source-system validation, query/reporting performance, and business value. • Experience presenting information to Project Review Boards, Project Sponsors, workgroups, and Technical Review Boards. • Experience consulting with agency clients and explaining complex IT processes and solutions. • Experience developing and maintaining communication plans with technical and business stakeholders. • Experience assisting Architects or DBAs with technical database models. • Knowledge of audit separation-of-duty requirements. • Experience capturing and designing data elements based on application requirements. • Experience reviewing and approving system documentation. • Experience analyzing the impact and risks of proposed legislation, enhancements, government requests, and process changes. • Experience providing technical expertise for IT project estimating and budgeting. • Team leadership experience, including directing code development and mentoring development staff. • Experience identifying opportunities for programming process and tool standardization. • Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation. • Knowledge of production change management processes. • Experience reviewing and approving test plans. • Experience incorporating security requirements into test plans.
