Senior Database Administrator / Developer (Access & Cloud SQL Migration) Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid – Local Candidates Only, within 50-mile radiusSchedule: Remote Mon–Wed | Onsite Thurs & Fri Interview Type: Microsoft Teams Role Overview Senior Database Administrator/Developer with expertise in Microsoft Access, SQL, and cloud-native database platforms to lead the modernization and migration of legacy systems. This position requires deep knowledge of database design, performance tuning, ETL processes, and data migration strategies. The Database Administrator will support both day-to-day administration and a large-scale migration of legacy MS Access databases to modern SQL platforms (Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, etc.). This includes schema design, ETL pipeline development, query optimization, validation checks, documentation, and ensuring compliance with EIR Accessibility standards. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain advanced MS Access databases, including normalized tables, queries, forms, reports, and VBA-based workflows. Translate Access data models into scalable, cloud-native SQL schemas. Lead the migration of legacy databases into Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, or equivalent platforms. Develop and manage ETL workflows using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, AWS DMS, or similar tools. Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and data validation. Create migration runbooks, data dictionaries, and technical documentation. Provide knowledge transfer and training sessions for stakeholders. Support disaster recovery planning, database security, and data integrity efforts. Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to ensure smooth transition and minimal disruption. Ensure all database administration tools and reporting interfaces comply with EIR Accessibility standards. Candidate Skills & Qualifications Minimum Requirements: 10+ years in advanced MS Access database design (tables, queries, forms, reports, VBA). 10+ years in relational database design, normalization, ER modeling, and schema transformation. 10+ years migrating Access or legacy databases into cloud SQL platforms (Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS). 8+ years ETL tool experience (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, AWS DMS, or equivalent). 8+ years experience creating migration documentation, runbooks, and technical training. 8+ years with RDBMS admin/console tools (SSMS, TOAD, SQL Developer). 8+ years configuring data integration and batch processes, monitoring performance, and query optimization. 8+ years migrating data from legacy to modern SQL targets. Preferred Qualifications: 6+ years experience with CI/CD, GitHub, JIRA. 6+ years experience with reporting/visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau). 6+ years Agile methodology experience. 3+ years working with healthcare or public health systems. 3+ years implementing Agile best practices Job Type: Contract Pay: $80.00 - $90.00 per hour Work Location: Remote
