Title: Database Engineer Location: Phoenix, AZ Alternative Location: Chandler, AZ, Irving, TX, Charlotte, NC Duration: 24 months Work Engagement: W2 Work Schedule: Hybrid 3 days in office/2 days remote Benefits on offer for this contract position: Health Insurance, Life insurance, 401K and Voluntary Benefits Summary: In this contingent resource assignment, you may: Consult on or participate in moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within Database Engineering and contribute to large-scale planning related to Database Engineering deliverables. Review and analyze moderately complex Database Engineering challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Contribute to the resolution of moderately complex issues and consult with others to meet Database Engineering deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Collaborate with client personnel in Database Engineering. Required Qualifications: Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, education. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and participate in database engineering and operations activities for MongoDB, EDB PostgreSQL, and YugabyteDB, supporting enterprise-scale applications. • Design, implement, and manage highly complex database architectures, including data modeling, schema design, data mapping, and integration strategies. • Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and scalability planning for mission-critical database platforms. • Plan, research, design, implement, maintain, and control server-class database environments across multiple supported platforms. • Design and implement database security solutions, including Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmarks, auditing, and compliance controls. • Design, evaluate, and certify next-generation database technologies and platforms to support future enterprise needs. • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and internal clients on high-impact database and data management initiatives, influencing strategic decisions. • Provide technical leadership and recommendations on the future direction of database platforms and technologies. • Develop and maintain database management policies, procedures, standards, and best practices. • Collaborate with peers, engineers, architects, and managers to resolve complex technical issues and achieve organizational goals. • Lead initiatives aligned with enterprise and Data Management Office (DMO) strategies, maintaining a big-picture view of platform evolution. • Drive automation of database build, deployment, and operational support processes to improve scalability, reliability, and efficiency. • Design and support high availability, replication, and disaster recovery solutions for high-tier and mission-critical applications. • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) by continuously expanding technical depth and breadth in new database features, tools, and technologies. • Promote and enforce standardized operational practices to deliver highly available, resilient database solutions. • Participate in an on-call DBA rotation to support production systems and ensure uptime. • Take a lead role in complex, enterprise-wide initiatives with broad impact. • Maintain a strong customer service focus, ensuring reliable, high-quality database services. Key Requirements: • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. • MongoDB, EDB PostgreSQL, and YugabyteDB database platforms. Technical Skills • Advanced experience in database design, data modeling, and schema optimization. • Strong knowledge of high availability, replication, and disaster recovery architectures. • Experience implementing database security controls, compliance standards, and auditing mechanisms. • Strong background in automation and scripting to reduce manual intervention and human error. • Experience improving operational efficiency, including MTTR reduction and SLA adherence. • Hands-on experience designing and supporting next-generation database technologies.
