🚨 Strictly W2 Only | No C2C 🚨 Sr Database / Data Engineer 📍 Location: Alpharetta, GA (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite) 💼 Job Type: Contract (12 Months) 🧠 Experience Required: 12+ Years Job Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database / Data Engineer to lead and support database migration initiatives from Oracle to PostgreSQL, while also contributing to data engineering workloads using Databricks and PySpark. This role is ideal for a hands-on expert with deep SQL/PLSQL knowledge, strong performance tuning skills, and experience working in hybrid cloud environments. The role includes approximately 20% DBA responsibilities, primarily supporting SQL Server and limited Oracle exposure. Key Responsibilities Database Design & Development • Design and develop scalable, high-performance database solutions • Build and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and views • Define indexing strategies and data models for performance and reliability Database Migration (Critical Requirement) • Lead Oracle → PostgreSQL migrations using AWS DMS, Ora2PG, or custom scripts • Perform data mapping, conversion, reconciliation, and validation • Develop and execute migration plans ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime Data Engineering & Analytics • Develop and optimize Databricks jobs for data processing and reporting • Use Python and PySpark for ETL pipelines and data transformations • Support analytics and reporting needs with performant data pipelines Performance Tuning & Optimization • Perform query optimization and database performance tuning • Troubleshoot production performance issues across Oracle and PostgreSQL • Implement caching, indexing, and optimization strategies Support & Maintenance • Monitor database health and proactively implement improvements • Automate routine database tasks using scripts and procedures • Provide limited DBA support (~20%) for SQL Server and Oracle Required Skills & Qualifications Must Have • 12+ years of experience in Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL development • Proven experience with Oracle to PostgreSQL migration • Strong expertise in PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server • Hands-on experience with AWS DMS and/or Ora2PG • Advanced skills in performance tuning and query optimization • Strong experience with Databricks and PySpark • Solid understanding of RDBMS architecture and database design Nice to Have • ~20% DBA experience (SQL Server preferred) • Exposure to Oracle DBA activities • Experience working in AWS cloud environments • Familiarity with workflow orchestration and job scheduling tools RDBMS Expertise • Oracle & PostgreSQL architecture, performance, and optimization • Advanced SQL development (procedures, functions, views) • Indexing strategies and execution plan analysis Cloud & Platform Exposure • AWS cloud-based database services • Databricks for large-scale data processing • Apache Spark / PySpark
