The role demands strong expertise in enterprise database platforms, automation‑driven migrations, governance‑led execution, and close coordination with application, middleware, and infrastructure teams in a regulated BFS environment.
In this Role, You Will:
Planning & Assessment
Develop the overall database migration strategy, sequencing, and wave plan
Validate source and target platform readiness for Exadata and SQL Server VM environments
Perform database discovery, dependency mapping, and classification for migration sequencing
Conduct compatibility checks covering database versions, patch levels, character sets, storage layouts, and connectivity
Identify migration tooling and automation requirements, including AMA readiness
Prepare migration workflows and cutover approaches aligned to Client SOPs, runbooks, and governance
Migration Preparation
Perform pre‑migration technical checks for Oracle and SQL Server environments
Validate and coordinate target environment readiness (DB servers, ASM/storage, clusters, network reachability, RBAC)
Plan and schedule migration waves with application and infrastructure teams
Configure replication, data movement, or export/import workflows per approved approach
Ensure automation jobs and scripts are tested and governance‑compliant
Stage scripts, job templates, and automation artifacts for migration execution
Migration Execution
Build and configure databases on target platforms
Execute database replication, data copy, or migration jobs using AMA or equivalent tools
Perform backup of source databases prior to migration
Monitor data transfer, replication health, and execution status
Resolve migration‑related errors impacting synchronization or readiness
Maintain real‑time migration tracking and reporting
Coordinate with storage, compute, and network teams during execution
Cutover Activities
Execute controlled cutover during approved freeze windows
Perform final sync, switchover, role transition, and database activation
Conduct post‑activation checks (listener, connectivity, instance health)
Validate application‑to‑database connectivity
Update migration trackers, wave dashboards, and cutover logs
Coordinate with application teams for functional validation and acceptance
Post‑Migration Handover & Decommissioning
Perform post‑migration verification, including performance baseline and data consistency checks
Support hypercare and stabilization, addressing migration exceptions
Assist with application reconnection and downstream validation
Document migration outcomes and final signoff
Execute source shutdown, cleanup, and decommissioning per Client‑approved process
Handover updated configurations, documentation, and final migration reports to operations
Desired Qualifications:
Database Administrator (Oracle / Exadata / MS SQL)
6 of experience as an Enterprise Database Administrator supporting Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server platforms in large‑scale environments
Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and administration for:
Oracle (11g/12c/19c) including Exadata
Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) on VM platforms
Proven experience supporting datacenter or platform migration programs, including planning, execution, cutover, and post‑migration stabilization
Hands‑on expertise in:
Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN
SQL Server Always On, clustering, backup/restore, and replication
Database build, configuration, and hardening on target environments
Strong experience performing pre‑migration readiness checks, including:
Version and patch compatibility
Character set and collation validation
Storage layout and capacity planning
Connectivity and access validation
Solid understanding of backup, recovery, and rollback strategies to support migration and cutover activities
Experience executing and validating database replication, data copy, or export/import–based migration approaches
Strong knowledge of HA/DR concepts, failover testing, and production cutover best practices
Ability to perform post‑migration validation, including data consistency checks and performance baseline comparisons
Experience working in regulated BFS environments with strict governance, audit, and change control requirements
Hands‑on exposure to automation‑driven database migration or administration (scripts, job scheduling, tooling such as AMA or equivalent) is a plus
Working experience with ServiceNow, Jira, and CMDB updates as part of migration execution and operational handover
Strong documentation skills with the ability to produce runbooks, migration reports, and handover artifacts
Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work closely with application, infrastructure, and operations teams
