Role description
Contract-to-Hire (client does not sponsor) Greater Mpls or Madison, WI areas Starting in January 2026, must be on-site on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week. The Database Engineer IV will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of both legacy and modern data platforms that power client’s enterprise operations. You’ll work with a team of experienced engineers and architects to manage and optimize enterprise databases, with a strong emphasis on data pipeline development and cloud integration. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who enjoys solving complex data challenges, contributing to modernization efforts, and collaborating across teams in a fast-paced Agile environment. Key attributes of the ideal candidate: β€’ Natural Leader, Well spoken β€’ Technically focused/capable, but understands the broader picture of the organization β€’ Automation First mindset Key Responsibilities β€’ Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines across cloud and on-prem environments. β€’ Support the administration, monitoring, and performance tuning of databases (Oracle, Snowflake, Azure SQL, and MS SQL). β€’ Assist in database provisioning, configuration, patching, and backup/recovery processes. β€’ Collaborate with developers, analysts, and other DBAs to troubleshoot issues and optimize queries. β€’ Participate in data migration and integration efforts as part of cloud transformation initiatives. β€’ Ensure database security, access controls, and compliance with internal standards. β€’ Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and knowledge sharing within the team. β€’ Participate in or lead Agile ceremonies and team planning activities, contributing to a culture of shared ownership and continuous improvement. β€’ Participate in an on-call rotation to support 24/7 database operations and incident response. Minimum Qualifications and Required Experience β€’ 7 years of experience in database engineering or a related technical role. β€’ Hands-on experience with at least one of the following: Oracle, Snowflake, or Azure SQL Database. β€’ Familiarity with system performance tuning, and query optimization. β€’ Solid understanding of cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and cloud-native data services. β€’ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. β€’ Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with technical peers. Preferred Experience β€’ Experience building and maintaining data pipelines in cloud or hybrid environments. β€’ Experience with Liquibase or other database change management tools. β€’ Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., Ansible, Python, Terraform). β€’ Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines or DevOps practices. β€’ Experience with monitoring tools and observability platforms. β€’ Background in Agile or SAFe environments. Worksite Arrangement: β€’ This position is approved for Office (greater Mpls or Madison area) β€’ This position would work onsite 3 days per week (Tues-Thurs) beginning in January 2026.
