Role description
Role: Database Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC ((Hybrid 3 days onsite and 2 days remote per week)
W2 COntract
A Database Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining database systems that store and organize critical business data.
Key qualifications include:
- Strong experience with SQL and database design.
- Hands-on experience with DBMS: SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and MongoDB.
- Knowledge of indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.
- Experience with cloud databases (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
- Scripting knowledge (Bash, PowerShell) and WinSCP knowledge required.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop database architectures (Mainly Oracle, SQL Server)
• Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server)
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions
• Monitor database performance and tune queries for efficiency
• Ensure data integrity, consistency, and security across systems
• Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
• Manage database access, roles, and permissions
• Collaborate with application developers to design data models and schemas
• Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely resolution
• Automate database tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Shell)
• Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory standards
• Support data migration and integration activities
