About the Role
The IT Department is seeking a skilled Database Engineer / Reporting Specialist to support the agencyβs main adjudication systems. This role requires strong hands-on experience in database administration, SQL performance tuning, reporting, ETL workflows, and support across multiple database platforms.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring database performance, reliability, scalability, and reporting accuracy across development and production environments. This position will also work closely with development and QA teams to support data validation, test data preparation, and application delivery.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Manage, optimize, and support Microsoft SQL Server databases.
β’ Perform SQL query optimization, schema design, indexing, and performance tuning.
β’ Support database environments across development and production systems.
β’ Design and maintain ETL workflows using SQL Server Integration Services.
β’ Develop and maintain reports using SQL Server Reporting Services and other reporting tools.
β’ Support multiple database platforms including Azure SQL Database, MongoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
β’ Collaborate with application development and QA teams on data validation and test data management.
β’ Identify database bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
β’ Support software quality initiatives and application development needs.
Required Skills
β’ Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server Administration.
β’ Hands-on experience with SQL query optimization, performance tuning, schema design, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
β’ Experience with SQL Server Integration Services.
β’ Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services or similar reporting technologies.
β’ Experience supporting development and production database environments.
β’ Strong understanding of database performance, reliability, and scalability.
β’ Experience with data validation and working closely with QA/development teams.
Preferred Skills
β’ Experience with Azure SQL Database.
β’ Experience with MongoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
β’ Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
β’ Exposure to QA automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or similar tools.
β’ Prior experience supporting government, legal, adjudication, or case management systems.
Minimum Qualifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in computer science or related field with relevant software/database experience; or
β’ High school diploma/equivalent with equivalent full-time software experience; or
β’ A satisfactory combination of education and experience.
Candidates must have experience serving as a project leader or major contributor on a complex software/database project.
