Position Overview
The selected consultant will play a key role in designing, developing, implementing, and supporting Azure databases and data lakes while ensuring secure, scalable, and high-performing data solutions. This role also includes mentoring other database engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and implement relational and non-relational databases in Azure.
• Build and maintain Azure Data Lakes and Data Lakehouse solutions.
• Develop and implement data transformation processes.
• Optimize database performance and data access patterns.
• Maintain technical documentation and database standards.
• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
• Ensure database security through RBAC, encryption, and network security best practices.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams.
• Support CI/CD implementation for database deployments.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to team members.
Required Skills & Experience
• Strong experience designing and implementing Azure Data Lakes, relational and non-relational databases.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks.
• Experience with Oracle Databases.
• Strong expertise in Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, and cloud-based data transformation.
• Experience loading and transforming data using Azure data utilities.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of Azure cloud services and infrastructure.
• Experience using:
• Azure Monitor
• Azure Data Factory
• SQL Analytics
• Query Performance Insight
• Azure Resource Manager (ARM)
• Azure CLI / PowerShell
• Experience implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions using Azure Backup or Geo-Replication.
• Experience with role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and Azure network security.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, schema design, indexing strategies, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of Azure SQL Managed Instances, Elastic Pools, and Data Warehouse concepts.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers is highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
• 7+ years of experience designing and implementing Azure database and data lake solutions.
• Experience with Teradata Data Warehouse Administration is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
