Role description
Database Developer Location: Diamond Bar, California (Hybrid – onsite meetings and reviews)Duration: 24 MonthsWork Authorization: U.S. Citizen / Green Card Scope The project involves migrating client's CLASS and CLASSDSS databases from Ingres to Microsoft SQL Server, modernizing connected applications, and ensuring smooth system integration. It aims to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability while keeping all agency operations running without disruption during the transition. Responsibilities Develop and implement database objects (tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, indexes) in SQL Server. Rebuild and optimize SQL Server database schemas based on the existing Ingres environment. Perform data migration, transformation, and validation ensuring complete accuracy and fidelity. Collaborate with the Migration Architect and DBA on schema mapping, data loading, and performance tuning. Write and optimize complex SQL queries, functions, and stored procedures. Support integration, testing, and troubleshooting of database-driven applications. Maintain documentation for database structures, scripts, and stored logic. Assist in post-migration support and performance monitoring. Minimum Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline. 5–8 years of hands-on database development experience. Strong background in SQL Server development, database design, and performance tuning. Experience in database migration or modernization projects (Ingres or legacy RDBMS preferred). Knowledge of data integrity, normalization, and indexing strategies. Familiarity with Agile or hybrid development models. Technical Skills Databases: Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019+, Ingres (preferred), Azure SQL Languages: T-SQL, PL/SQL Tools: SSMS, SSIS, Erwin Data Modeler, Redgate, Git / Azure DevOps Concepts: Data modeling, ETL, schema conversion, stored procedure optimization Other: Experience with database security, access control, and query performance tuning Certifications Preferred Microsoft Certified: SQL Server Database Developer / Database Administrator Associate Azure Data Engineer or similar certification (preferred) Security Requirements Must clear District background check and security review prior to onboarding. Must adhere to the client’s data-security and confidentiality protocols throughout project duration.
