Our healthcare client is seeking a highly skilled Databricks Data Governance Architect to lead the design, implementation, and adoption of enterprise data governance capabilities within a modern data platform environment. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on establishing and operationalizing governance frameworks using Databricks and Microsoft Purview.
The ideal candidate will not only architect and engineer the solution but will also work closely with internal teams to transfer knowledge, provide guidance, and help establish long-term governance best practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Architect, design, and implement enterprise data governance solutions leveraging Databricks Unity Catalog and Microsoft Purview.
• Lead the rollout of governance capabilities including data cataloging, classification, lineage, metadata management, data discovery, and governance workflows.
• Configure and manage data scanning, cataloging, and governance policies across cloud-based data environments.
• Establish governance standards, processes, and controls to ensure data quality, compliance, security, and accessibility.
• Serve as a hands-on technical expert responsible for building, configuring, and optimizing governance solutions.
• Partner with business stakeholders, data owners, security teams, and technical teams to define governance requirements and implementation strategies.
• Develop governance operating models, documentation, and best practices.
• Mentor and train internal teams on Databricks governance capabilities, Microsoft Purview functionality, and data governance processes.
• Support governance adoption initiatives and help drive organizational change management related to data governance.
Required Qualifications
• Extensive hands-on experience with Databricks and Microsoft Purview (both are required and non-negotiable).
• Proven experience implementing enterprise data governance programs and frameworks.
• Deep expertise with Databricks Unity Catalog, metadata management, data lineage, access controls, and governance capabilities.
• Strong experience configuring and administering Microsoft Purview, including data cataloging, scanning, classification, and lineage.
• Experience designing and implementing data governance architectures in cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of data security, compliance, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience working with large-scale data platforms, data lakes, and modern analytics ecosystems.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and knowledge transfer skills.
