Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Senior / Lead Databricks Engineer for a large-scale enterprise client undergoing a complex cloud and data platform migration. This engineer will play a critical role in leading Databricks architecture decisions, executing cross-cloud migrations (AWS to GCP), and designing highly scalable, production-grade data platforms using Terraform and Spark. The ideal candidate is hands-on, deeply technical, and confident challenging designs to ensure long-term performance, reliability, and maintainability in a modern data ecosystem. This is a fully remote role open to individuals based in the US to work CST hours.
MUST HAVE:
• 5–8+ years of experience as a Senior / Lead Databricks Engineer
• Strong Databricks platform experience (architecture, tooling, migration complexity assessment)
• Databricks migration experience (AWS to GCP strongly preferred; cross-cloud required)
• Deep Terraform experience
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• State management
• Designing and scripting templates from scratch
• Deep Clone usage in Databricks
• Pipeline creation and orchestration
• Advanced Spark knowledge: How Spark executes internally, Performance tuning and optimization, Identifying bottlenecks and debugging issues
• Strong cloud fundamentals
• Object storage (S3 / GCS / blob), Containers, IAM principals and policies
• GCP fundamentals (compute, storage, networking, IAM)
• Experience configuring Databricks policies and production environments
• Hands-on Python for data engineering
• Experience with GitHub or other version control systems
• Ability to clearly explain technical decisions, tooling, and architecture
• Comfortable challenging designs and proactively mitigating migration risks
NICE TO HAVE:
• Streaming / real-time data pipelines
• Experience working directly with Databricks professional services teams
Compensation:
$70/hr to $85/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
