Role description
Job Title: Databricks Engineer – Databricks Genie / Data & AI Remote We are seeking a Senior Databricks Engineer with hands-on Databricks Genie experience to support Cisco's enterprise data and AI initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform, including Databricks Genie, SQL, data engineering, data modeling, and analytics. The candidate will work with data engineering, analytics, AI/ML, and business teams to build scalable data solutions and enable users to interact with enterprise data using natural-language analytics through Databricks Genie. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and optimize scalable data solutions using Databricks. • Implement and administer Databricks Genie / Genie Spaces for natural-language querying and business analytics. • Configure Genie with appropriate datasets, tables, SQL queries, instructions, metadata, and business context to improve response accuracy. • Partner with business stakeholders to translate business questions into Genie-ready semantic and analytical models. • Develop complex Databricks SQL queries, views, data models, and analytical datasets. • Build and maintain data pipelines using PySpark, Spark SQL, Python, and Databricks workflows. • Work with Delta Lake and Lakehouse architecture for large-scale enterprise data processing. • Optimize Databricks workloads for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost. • Implement data quality, governance, security, and access controls across Databricks environments. • Integrate Databricks with enterprise data sources, APIs, cloud storage, and downstream analytics platforms. • Collaborate with data scientists, BI developers, AI/ML engineers, and business teams. • Troubleshoot data pipeline, SQL, performance, and Genie-related issues. • Establish best practices around data governance, lineage, documentation, and reusable analytical assets. • Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical design discussions, code reviews, and production deployments.
