Role description
Role: Databricks Specialist
Location: Dallas, TX
Duration: 6-9 months contract-to-hire
This is a contract to hire role for the right candidate;
We are seeking a highly skilled Databricks Subject Matter Expert (SME) with strong functional and technical expertise to lead data platform initiatives. This role requires deep experience in Databricks architecture, data engineering, and business-facing analytics, including reporting and dashboard development. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between business requirements and technical implementation, delivering scalable, high-quality data solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the primary SME for Databricks, providing both functional guidance and technical leadership.
Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines using Databricks (Delta Lake, Spark, SQL).
Translate business requirements into scalable data models and analytics solutions.
Develop and maintain reporting and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics, and reporting needs.
Ensure data quality, governance, and performance optimization across the data platform.
Support data integration from multiple sources (ERP systems, APIs, cloud platforms).
Lead troubleshooting, performance tuning, and best practice implementation.
Mentor team members and contribute to data strategy and architecture decisions.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in data engineering and analytics.
Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, and Delta Lake.
Proficiency in SQL and Python.
Experience in building dashboards and reports using BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts.
Ability to work across both functional (business-facing) and technical domains.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).
Familiarity with enterprise systems such as SAP , Salesforce etc
Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
Experience in Agile delivery environments.
