This role will involve developing secure and high-performance systems using Rust, reviewing and redesigning unsafe Rust code, implementing secure coding practices aligned with Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL), and maintaining libraries with multi-language bindings. The ideal candidate will have experience in Rust systems programming, ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, unsafe boundaries, secure coding practices, XML parsing strategies, multi-language bindings (C++, Python, Java, WASM), and open-source collaboration, and a passion for building secure, reliable, and accessible software systems. Job Title: Rust Developer Location: Bellevue, WA (On-site) Duration: 6+ months Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Rust Developer with strong expertise in Rust systems programming and secure software development. The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining secure Rust-based applications, ensuring compliance with Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) practices, and improving code safety by removing or redesigning unsafe Rust code. The role includes working with XML parsing strategies such as DOM and streaming, maintaining libraries with multi-language bindings including C++, Python, Java, and WASM, and contributing to security-sensitive codebases. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams in an open-source environment, create technical and design documentation, and ensure high standards of code quality, performance, and security. Familiarity with accessibility technologies, MathML, and screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, and Narrator is beneficial. Requirements: • Strong Rust systems programming experience • Deep understanding of ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, and unsafe boundaries • Proven experience removing or redesigning unsafe Rust code • Experience with Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) and secure coding practices • Experience with XML parsing strategies (DOM and streaming) • Background working on security-sensitive or reviewed codebases • Experience maintaining libraries with multi-language bindings (C++, Python, Java, WASM) • Strong written communication and technical documentation skills • Experience collaborating in open-source environments • Familiarity with accessibility technologies, MathML, and screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, Narrator) • 4–6 years of relevant experience Why Join Us?
