The position We are seeking an experienced and solution-orientedBusiness Data Analystto support a fixed-term initiative on a 6 month fixed term basis focused on migrating and improving project development data into our centralizedESRI GIS-based application. This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders across Development, GIS, Technical, and Development Analytics teams to execute data migration tasks, ensure data integrity, and enhance the usability of project information within the GIS platform. The ideal candidate brings strong technical skills in data transformation and scripting, paired with the ability to engage stakeholders, understand business needs, and solve complex data quality and structure issues. Accountabilities β€’ Design and execute workflows to migrate spatial and non-spatial project data from Excel, SharePoint, and legacy systems into the ESRI GIS platform. β€’ Write and maintain scripts (e.g., Python) to support bulk data transformation, validation, and loading processes. β€’ Work directly with GIS specialists and project stakeholders to identify key data elements, resolve discrepancies, and align datasets to the target schema. β€’ Perform quality control checks and develop automated validation steps to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data within the GIS application. β€’ Recommend improvements to data models, field definitions, and workflows to the application development team. β€’ Support training and change management activities. Knowledge β€’ Strong understanding of data migration processes, especially involving spatial (GIS) and non-spatial data from sources such as Excel, SharePoint, and legacy systems. β€’ In-depth knowledge of ESRI GIS platforms and applications, including data structures, schema alignment, and data integrity principles. β€’ Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data transformation, validation, and automation of bulk data processes. β€’ Familiarity with data quality assurance methods, including automated validation, quality control checks, and troubleshooting data discrepancies. β€’ Awareness of best practices in data modelling, field definition, and workflow optimization within GIS and analytics environments. β€’ Understanding of stakeholder engagement and change management principles, particularly in cross-functional teams (Development, GIS, Technical, Analytics). β€’ Commitment to data security, accuracy, privacy, and compliance with organizational standards for renewable energy project information. Skills β€’ Advanced data transformation and scripting skills, particularly using Python for automation, validation, and bulk data processing. β€’ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on resolving data quality and structure issues. β€’ Excellent attention to detail, especially in performing quality control checks and ensuring data integrity. β€’ Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to collaborate across Development, GIS, Technical, and Analytics teams. β€’ Ability to design and optimize workflows for migrating and managing spatial and non-spatial data. β€’ Proficiency in using ESRI GIS platforms and related data management tools. β€’ Adaptability and willingness to support training and change management activities. β€’ Commitment to continuous improvement and recommending enhancements to data models and workflows. Experience β€’ Professional experience in data migration, transformation, or integration projects, ideally involving both spatial (GIS) and non-spatial data from sources such as Excel, SharePoint, or legacy systems. β€’ Hands-on experience with data analysis, data wrangling, and scriptingβ€”preferably using Pythonβ€”for automating data processing, validation, and quality assurance tasks. β€’ Practical exposure to ESRI GIS platforms or similar geospatial technologies is highly desirable, but strong technical skills with a willingness to learn GIS concepts are also valued. β€’ Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Development, GIS, Technical, Analytics) to understand business requirements, resolve data issues, and deliver actionable insights. β€’ Track record of implementing or supporting data quality checks, troubleshooting data discrepancies, and ensuring data integrity in complex datasets. β€’ Experience with data modelling, workflow optimization, or recommending improvements to data management processes is a plus. β€’ Participation in training, documentation, or change management activities related to data systems or analytics platforms is beneficial. β€’ Experience in the renewable energy sector. Qualifications β€’ Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related STEM field or equivalent professional experience.
