DevOps Engineer – OUTSIDE IR35 – SECURITY CLEARED
Start date: ASAP
Duration: 12 Months
Location: 1-2 days per month in Portsmouth & rest of the month working from home
Rate: £400 - £465 per day OUTSIDE IR35
Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Platform Integration Engineer to support the secure deployment and lifecycle management of containerised applications for our client. This role will bridge the gap between development and platform engineering teams, resolving current deployment challenges, and uplifting CI/CD maturity across the organisation. The successful candidate will have deep Kubernetes expertise, strong DevSecOps practices, and experience working in regulated defence/government environments.
Skills:
• Active SC clearance (must be in place prior to start).
• Kubernetes expertise (3+ years), including design, deployment, and operations at scale.
• Hands-on experience with VMware Tanzu or Red Hat OpenShift.
• Strong proficiency in CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, Tekton).
• Infrastructure-as-Code: Terraform, Helm, Ansible.
• Scripting: Bash, Python.
• Experience in air-gapped environments and secure software supply chain practices (SBOMs, image scanning).
• Familiarity with MOD/NCSC guidance and CIS benchmarks.
• Proven ability to work across organisational boundaries and with external teams.
Desirable Skills:
• Exposure to multiple Kubernetes distributions.
• Experience with MODCloud, Azure, or AWS in regulated environments.
• GitOps workflows (ArgoCD, Flux).
• Observability tooling: Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK/EFK.
• Service mesh technologies: Istio, Linkerd.
• Experience with containerised services: Postgres, Redis, Kafka, Keycloak.
• Familiarity with MOD delivery processes and SSDF-aligned development environments.
