Role description
Company Description: Mojo Trek, an Inc. 5000 company, delivers an unparalleled technology recruitment experience, grounded in transparency and integrity. From midsize technology innovators to Fortune 50 powerhouse corporations, we help our clients build technology teams that make a difference. In addition to our strong presence in the Midwest and New York, we maintain an international footprint that enhances our ability to serve clients on a global scale. We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer, as well as a DevOps Engineer who can hit the ground running to keep our platforms reliable, observable, and ship-ready. You’ll own day-to-day stability, deployments, and continuous improvement across our Kubernetes-based infrastructure, with a strong focus on diagnosing issues and maintaining a mature CI/CD environment rather than standing up net-new systems. You’ll collaborate closely with sales, customer service, and engineering stakeholders, communicating clearly and proactively in an asynchronous, Microsoft Teams–driven environment. This role sits outside of individual agile teams and partners across the organization. What You’ll Do β€’ Own and operate production Kubernetes environments (upgrade planning, rollout strategies, cluster health, troubleshooting, capacity planning). β€’ Manage and improve GitOps-driven workflows and deployment practices; ensure reliable, repeatable releases. β€’ Maintain and enhance a well-established CI/CD pipeline; ensure build, test, and release stages remain fast, secure, and stable. β€’ Lead diagnostics and incident response: root cause analysis, performance tuning, reliability improvements, and post-incident reviews. β€’ Drive observability best practices with Prometheus and Grafana: metrics, alerting, dashboards, SLOs/SLIs, and actionable alerts. β€’ Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, customer service, and engineering to translate business needs into operational outcomes. β€’ Implement and enforce environment/permissions hygiene, cost awareness, and security guardrails. β€’ Document runbooks, playbooks, and standards; mentor peers in platform/tooling usage and operational excellence. Tech Environment β€’ Cloud: Primarily Azure; small AWS footprint. GCP experience also welcome. β€’ Orchestration: Heavy Kubernetes usage. β€’ GitOps: Preferred approach for environment and app lifecycle. β€’ Observability: Prometheus and Grafana (heavy use). β€’ CI/CD: Mature pipelines in place (focus on maintenance and optimization). β€’ Communication: Asynchronous-first via Microsoft Teams. Required Qualifications β€’ 3-8+ years in DevOps/SRE/Platform Engineering roles supporting production systems. β€’ Deep, hands-on Kubernetes expertise (workloads, networking, storage, upgrades, scaling, multi-env strategies). β€’ Proven GitOps experience (repo design, PR-driven changes, policy enforcement, drift detection). β€’ Strong troubleshooting across the stack (app, container, network, cloud services, pipelines). β€’ Solid observability skills with Prometheus and Grafana: instrumentation, alerting, dashboards, and performance analysis. β€’ Experience managing deployments at scale (blue/green, canary, rollout strategies, rollback procedures). β€’ Comfortable maintaining and improving established CI/CD pipelines. β€’ Excellent communication and stakeholder management; proactive, extroverted, and not shy about driving decisions. Nice to Have β€’ Argo CD and Terraform (IaC best practices, modular design, state management). β€’ Azure networking and permissions (VNet, NSGs, Private Link, Managed Identities, RBAC). β€’ EKS experience (or other managed K8s services). β€’ Security-minded practices (secrets management, image policies, supply chain controls, RBAC, policy-as-code).
