Role description
DevSecOps Engineer Hybrid: Kansas City, MO 3 days p/week on site Multi-Year Contract Our client, a well-established and nationally recognized specialty insurer, is seeking a Senior DevSecOps Engineer with strong experience in Azure infrastructure, DevOps automation, and cloud security engineering. This role will be instrumental in modernizing and scaling secure, automated cloud platforms to support application and data workloads across hybrid environments. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to build and maintain scalable Azure environments, CI/CD pipelines, security tooling integrations, and observability frameworks. This position sits within a senior-level platform engineering group and plays a key role in supporting application delivery, data platforms, and infrastructure security. Key Responsibilities: • Plan, build, and maintain secure, resilient, and automated Azure cloud solutions aligned to infrastructure best practices. • Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, and PowerShell. • Automate provisioning and deployment through Azure DevOps and YAML-based CI/CD pipelines. • Deploy and manage containers and microservices via Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). • Design and support hybrid network topologies including VNet peering, ExpressRoute, and Hub-and-Spoke architectures. • Enforce cloud governance through tagging policies, budget controls, and security automation. • Integrate security tools (e.g., Snyk, Wiz, Microsoft Defender, SonarQube) into build and deployment pipelines. • Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and applications using DataDog, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights. • Manage identity and access using Azure AD, RBAC, and Key Vault. • Support and build pipelines for data workloads including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse, and Azure Databricks. • Configure and optimize SQL Server environments and support Power BI, Power Platform, and Power Apps integrations. • Lead root cause analysis, performance tuning, and L3-level break/fix for critical systems. • Collaborate with internal teams to define cloud infrastructure requirements, assist in solution design, and support deployment readiness. • Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation for systems, infrastructure, and procedures. Required Skills & Experience: • 5–7+ years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure and DevSecOps roles. • Expertise in Microsoft Azure services: Azure App Services, AKS, Azure SQL, Function Apps, Service Bus, and Key Vault. • Strong background in both Windows and Linux system administration and automation. • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, or Puppet preferred). • Proficient in scripting (PowerShell, Python, Shell); experience with .NET or SQL a plus. • Familiarity with hybrid cloud architecture, security standards, and ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow. • Proven ability to work independently and within cross-functional engineering teams. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
