Role description
Title: Digital Plant Engineer
Location: Lebanon, IN (Hybrid)
Our client is seeking an experienced Digital Plant Engineer to support the design and implementation of cutting-edge digital systems at a new state-of-the-art drug development and manufacturing site. This role is highly collaborative and will play a key role in shaping both the manufacturing system architecture and the data infrastructure for the facility.
Travel:
Must be able to travel to Indiana
First 6 months: minimum 2 weeks per month on-site
Remaining duration: minimum 1 week per month
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Bridge business, technology, and data architecture needs across the project
β’ Represent the automation function in Digital Plant strategy discussions
β’ Contribute to the development of the overall Digital Strategy for the project
β’ Lead and support the data flow mapping and data architecture design
β’ Assist in building site-level data infrastructure (e.g., Aveva PI, Logmate)
β’ Support the definition and implementation of automation philosophies
β’ Develop Digital Plant use cases and integration strategies
β’ Provide technical expertise and consulting on automation and data systems
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project deliverables
β’ Communicate progress, challenges, and resource needs to the Automation Project Manager
β’ Ensure compliance with training, GMPs, and validation requirements
Required Qualifications:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
β’ 7+ years of experience in data strategy/architecture within API or bulk pharmaceutical manufacturing
β’ Strong background in automation systems in pharma manufacturing (API preferred)
β’ Proven experience delivering large-scale automation projects in the pharma sector
β’ Experience with DeltaV Batch DCS (highly preferred)
β’ Experience with MES systems (preferred)
β’ Working knowledge of Aveva PI (preferred)
β’ Deep understanding of lab operations and data flows between lab instruments, control systems, and enterprise platforms
β’ Strong grasp of GMPs, regulatory expectations, and CSV principles
β’ Excellent communication skills β both technical and non-technical
β’ Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills.
