Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Digital Twin Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide professional on-call IT support for its upcoming Digital Twin project. This position plays a critical role in supporting the procurement, implementation, and closeout phases of the project, ensuring alignment with the Port’s technical and operational goals. This is a hybrid role that is primarily remote, with occasional on-site work required in San Pedro, CA.
Key Responsibilities
Review and refine existing use cases and technical requirements
Develop implementation phase breakdowns and task-level deliverables
Assist in the development of procurement documents (e.g., scopes of work, evaluation criteria)
Provide input on RFP responses and vendor evaluations, as needed
Support implementation planning, execution, and performance tracking
Assist with vendor onboarding, coordination, and milestone management
Lead or participate in technical working sessions with vendors and Port staff to align architecture and integration plans
Oversee the execution of specific implementation activities, working closely with the Port’s Project Manager to monitor progress and resolve issues
Support the buildout of technical components, including data pipelines, dashboards, and GIS layers, by providing subject matter input and hands-on collaboration
Recommend practical technology stacks, integration patterns, and sequencing strategies
Validate that deliverables meet the documented use case requirements and perform as intended
Support project closeout activities, including deliverable validation, lessons learned, and transition to operations
Attend internal meetings, workshops, and planning sessions (on-site as needed)
Ensure that proposed solutions align with Port resources, staffing levels, and existing systems
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Demonstrated experience leading Digital Twin implementations for public agencies or ports
Strong understanding of geospatial platforms (e.g., Esri), enterprise systems (SAP, Maximo), and IoT integration
Experience drafting technical requirements and implementation strategies for RFPs
Familiarity with data governance, cloud architectures, and systems integration
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
