Role description
Citrin Cooperman offers a dynamic work environment, fostering professional growth and collaboration. We’re continuously seeking talented individuals who bring fresh perspectives, a problem-solving mindset, and sharp technical expertise. We know you have choices, so our team of collaborative, innovative professionals are at the ready to support your professional development. At Citrin Cooperman, we offer competitive compensation and benefits and most importantly, the flexibility to manage your personal and professional life to focus on what matters most to you!
We are looking for a Director, Data Orchestration and Integration Product Owner – Assurance to join the Innovation team within the Methodology & Innovation department. They’ll connect, standardize, and automate data flows across our assurance software ecosystem—including but not limited to client portals, AI assistants, workpaper tools, and assurance workflow automation—by designing and operating a data orchestration layer that ensures evidence, scale, control, and integrity.
The ideal candidate understands audit workflows, is fluent in APIs and automation, and can partner with audit teams to deliver measurable cycle‑time and quality improvements.
Our Tooling Landscape
• You’ll orchestrate data across: Suralink, Auditor Intelligence, Datasnipper, Tellen, Trullion, and Caseware Cloud and other assurance tooling.
• Capabilities required to orchestrate data across this assurance tooling landscape include:
• Document Ingestion (templates, roll-forward, spreadsheet import, dashboards).
• Secure Client Portal features (drag‑and‑drop, file preview, keyword search).
• Workpaper Suite (Excel add‑ins, automated document syncing, linking supporting documents, AI analysis, data matching).
• Assessment Hub (document assessment, file preview, pinned comments).
• AI Capabilities (natural‑language queries with evidence, pre‑screened uploads, Excel‑embedded AI).
• Financial Statement Tie‑Out (proof/tie‑out, internal consistency, prior‑year comparison, version compare, disclosure checklist).
• Integrations/Open APIs, and Security & Compliance (SSO/MFA, role‑based access).
Responsibilities Are, But Not Limited To
Design & Operate the Data Orchestration Layer
• Architect a metadata‑driven pipeline that moves and maps client prepared and third-party documents and structured data between the client portal (e.g., Suralink), workpaper methodology tools (e.g., Caseware Cloud), Assurance workflow automation engines (e.g., Auditor Intelligence/Tellen/Datasnipper), and accounting engines (e.g., Trullion) using Open APIs and vendor integrations where available.
• Establish common evidence identifiers, and document lineage so every workpaper reference can trace back to the source upload, assessment, and transformation steps.
• Implement event‑driven ingestion leveraging tooling features like templates, roll forward analysis, spreadsheet import, and dashboards/notifications to minimize manual handling.
Automate Audit Evidence Assessment & Workpaper Preparation
• Operationalize pre‑screened client uploads and document assessment to validate completeness and quality before workpaper assembly.
• Orchestrate Excel‑embedded AI and document matching/data matching to accelerate vouching/tracing, tie‑outs, and cross‑references within the audit methodology (e.g., Caseware Cloud)
• Orchestrate data between risk assessment and analysis tools (e.g., MindBridge) and audit methodology to facilitate linkage and efficiency.
• Drive Financial Statement Tie‑Out automation (proof/foot, internal consistency, prior‑year comparison, version compare, disclosure checklist) and route exceptions back to owners via the collaboration layer.
Security, Access, & Compliance Controls
• Enforce role‑based access, SSO, and MFA across applications; ensure consistent audit trails (approval workflows, activity timelines) and evidence retention policies within the orchestration layer.
• Partner with InfoSec on SOC 2/ISO 27001 controls; document data handling for PII, HIPAA/PHI (where applicable), GDPR/CCPA, and client contractual requirements.
Reliability, Observability, & Data Quality Pre-Check
• Build observability (dashboards, alerts, SLAs) for end‑to‑end data flows: ingestion success, assessment outcomes, binder sync status, and tie‑out completion.
• Collaborate with the National Assurance Innovation team to help institutionalize an India‑based data ingestion and analytics team to create controlled staging area, where applicable, where uploads are automatically assessed and flagged before release to U.S. teams, with full provenance and exception routing.
Change Management, Training, & Stakeholder Engagement
• Run pilots, capture feedback, and iterate on orchestration patterns; author playbooks for assurance engagements to use the data layer across the various assurance tools.
• Assist with the development of professional training programs to ensure that there is clear understanding of the orchestration and integration of data across the assurance tools. This includes, but is not limited to request IDs, data tagging, comments, workpaper linking, and AI guardrails.
• Collaborate with the National Assurance Innovation team to coordinate with vendors on product development roadmaps, API enhancements and evaluations on.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must:
• 6-10+ experience in audit/assurance, data engineering, or audit technology; CPA or audit background strongly preferred.
• Hands‑on expertise with Caseware Cloud, Suralink, Datasnipper, Tellen, Auditor Intelligence, Trullion and others.
• Familiarity with their common data structure formats, open APIs/integrations, assurance workflows and methodologies.
• Strong understanding of audit evidence and document quality, client provided document management, workpaper standards, and controls.
• Experience with AI‑enabled workflows (Natural language queries with evidence and Excel‑embedded AI) and risk guardrails.
• Ability to deeply understand and model assurance workflows as data flows.
• Ability to balance effective and efficient workflow automation with assurance standard setting
• Excellent communication with assurance engagement team members and vendors.
