

DIRECTOR OF DATA AND ANALYTICS
LEAP Social Enterprise is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as Director of Data and Analytics to lead in the development and sustainability of an organization-wide culture of data transparency and mutual accountability by collecting, analyzing, tracking, and publicly reporting data related to our school and organizational goals. The Director of Data and Analytics also manages all network-wide systems for data collection, storage, and reporting, including our student information system(s), to ensure that all members of the LEAP Social Enterprise’s network have the information that they need to make evidence-informed decisions. The Director of Data and Analytics oversees our network-wide technology systems. Finally, the Director of Data Analytics works closely with the Director of Instructional Technology to create and implement a vision and strategy for leveraging 21st Century technology resources to improve teaching and learning.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the chief operations officer (COO) executive and working closely with the executive team, school leaders, and network leaders—the Director of Data and Analytics is responsible for creating the vision and managing the execution of the use of data, including. the following areas: Management of data systems: External reporting and internal dashboards; Data system data integrity and risk mitigation; Data systems project management (new system implementation); Data systems contract performance, quality control, and client relationships; Support procedures for collecting, analyzing and acting upon data. In addition, this position is responsible for System optimization, reporting and analyses for Student information and assessment systems; Performance management systems; Staff information systems; Financial management and payroll systems. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership, project management, strategic thinking, communication, relationship building, and an unwavering commitment to improve and ensure the Network’s data protocols and effective uses of data and information.
Key Responsibilities
Data -- Performance Analytics
· Lead the process of collecting, analyzing, and tracking, and publicly reporting data related school and network goals.
· Organize and lead professional development, trainings, and meetings with key stakeholders to ensure that network and school staff consistently use data to inform key decisions and drive overall performance.
· Oversee the implementation of data visualization tools and create reports that allow for more streamlined data analysis.
· Expand end-user access to data on demand through data marts, frequently requested reports, or another means.
Management of Data Systems
· Manages all database systems used by the LEAP Social Enterprise CMO, including all state reporting; PowerSchool, School Lunch Nutrition Point of Sale software), MAP, Student and Staff survey systems.
· Supervises and supports the analyses of data from data systems to identify strengths, weaknesses and trends for the network as a whole, its schools and the individual operating units (dashboards, scorecards, etc.)
· Collaborates with stakeholders to improve their processes, operations and use of actionable data.
· Manages and develops dashboards in collaboration with stakeholders that can be used as planning and communications tools.
· Manages the optimization of existing systems and the process for training users in the use of systems.
· Manages the process for updating and applying patches for systems as they are made available from the vendor.
Data Warehousing and Reporting
· Ensure that data in our student information systems are accurate, accessible, and actionable.
· Supervise production and use of monthly school and network performance dashboards.
· Oversee the implementation of a data warehousing project to warehouse historical data across the organization for improved reporting systems.
· Perform ad-hoc data analysis and decision support as needed.
· Maintain awareness of and implement industry best practices.
· Create and maintain partnerships with vendors and sector leaders towards adopting and sharing best practices towards creating opportunities for the organization.
Organizational Leadership
· Develop a network-wide vision of excellence for data use and corresponding data strategy to guide the work of the team and organization;
· Participate as a thought partner to the COO and CEO, and as a member of the network leadership team, to craft overall organizational strategy and goals and incorporate the use of data and school related technology.
· Routinely represent the organization to key stakeholders and partners, instilling confidence among these constituents.
· Assist in preparation of all internal and external student performance reports and organizational metrics to support the organization’s strategic instructional and academic decision making to be shared with the Board of Trustees, Core Leadership Team, and external entities.
· Stay informed of and continuously learn about the latest trends around Data and Technology Management in the sector towards adopting cutting edge technologies and practices.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate for this position; master’s highly preferred.
· Fully bilingual (English/Spanish).
· Ready to start ASAP.
· Progressively advanced professional experience working with applied data analytics in education, including the following, is required: successful implementation of strategies to improve data literacy and data use, preferably in an education setting; developing reporting and dashboards; working with school, network, and/or district leadership in a coaching, collaborative, or consultative role.
· Minimum of three (3) years of experience building out automated data validation and building in adequate controls to ensure ongoing data quality required.
· Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with SQL and SAS or comparable applications required.
· Experience with Tableau, Power School, CPS Dashboard, Microsoft Power BI, Google Sheets, and Google Apps strongly preferred.
· Experience with school data cycles and school teaming structures strongly preferred.
· Experience in a large organization, driving complex projects requiring significant cross-functional collaboration preferred.
Strong understanding and experience setting up, configuring, and managing network components.
Proven track record of proficient project management of large-scale project.
Experience in the K-12 sector, particularly with personalized learning platforms and instructional classroom technology, is strongly preferred.
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships built on mutual trust and respect with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
· Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience identifying problems and implementing solutions.
· Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a proven ability to meet and exceed ambitious goal.
· Effective written and verbal communication including the ability to simplify complex topics for audiences with varying financial expertise.
