Role description
Director Solution Architect, Revenue Management Location: Remote; Must be able to travel to Bethesda MD for PI Planning quarterly Pay: $85-89/hr Seeking a highly dynamic and experienced Solution Architect to join our client's Domain Enterprise Architecture team. This role is responsible for designing and architecting scalable, resilient, and high‐performance technology solutions that support the transformation of enterprise product platforms. As the firm embarks on a large‐scale modernization of its core enterprise applications, this role will play a critical part in shaping the future-state architecture. The Solution Architect will work closely with Business, Product, and Engineering teams to translate business outcomes into robust technical solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, architectural patterns, and best practices. This position will lead architecture efforts across Enterprise applications, including Revenue Management Systems. The role partners closely with IT teams, developers, system administrators, and business stakeholders to deliver state‐of‐the‐art, cloud‐native platform capabilities that enable enterprise growth. Responsibilities: • Define and deliver longterm technology architecture vision, standards, and roadmaps in collaboration with business leaders, service providers, and key stakeholders • Establish governance frameworks for managing enterprise technology platforms • Design short-term tactical solutions aligned to longterm strategic objectives • Conduct technology lifecycle assessments, feasibility studies, and usage evaluations • Identify opportunities for technology reuse, migration, modernization, or retirement • Ensure architectural compliance with regulatory and security requirements • Develop and promote enterprise architecture methodologies, patterns, and standards • Define integration and interoperability standards across platforms and technologies • Establish guidelines for service providers to ensure performance, reliability, and architectural fidelity • Ensure accurate documentation of architecture artifacts and technology environments • Partner closely with Product Owners, Engineering teams, and Project Managers across enterprise initiatives • Serve as a technology leader and advocate, providing coaching and mentorship to engineering teams • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to select platforms and solutions aligned with business goals • Mentor engineers to strengthen architectural, design, and technical leadership capabilities Qualifications: Required • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience • 10+ years of progressive experience in software development and architecture, demonstrating increasing scope and responsibility • 3+ years of experience defining transition and target state architectures (Solution, Data, Integration, Deployment) for large scale digital transformations • Proven ability to create architectural artifacts such as conceptual and logical diagrams, domain and data models, use case journeys, and roadmaps • 3+ years of hands on experience architecting, implementing, or operating applications that ingest and process high volume data • Strong hands on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred; others acceptable) and NoSQL databases • Deep understanding of modern architecture and design principles, including microservices and domain driven design • Experience defining APIs and microservices across enterprise domains • Proven expertise designing cloud deployment topologies with a focus on high availability, scalability, performance, and data integrity • Strong experience defining and implementing nonfunctional requirements (NFRs) • Mandatory experience designing highly scalable, event driven architectures using streaming and messaging technologies such as Kafka and Spark • Solid understanding of event driven architecture and integration patterns, including REST and asynchronous APIs • Exposure to GraphQL, REST APIs, XML, and serialization based integrations • Hands on experience with AWS services including EKS, S3, Lambda, EMR, Aurora, DocumentDB, Couchbase Capella, and Snowflake • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with experience presenting to senior technology and business leaders • Passion for continuous learning and adoption of emerging technologies and architectural approaches Preferred • Strong preference for Hospitality or Travel industry experience • Experience with Pricing and Revenue Management capabilities, including: • Revenue forecasting and optimization models (OR or ML based) • Price determination and inventory optimization • Room allocation strategies • Experience ingesting and processing diverse data sources such as: • Active and historical bookings (transient and group) • Competitor pricing data • Inventory and room definition data • Experience forecasting inventory utilization, room pricing (cash and points), and loyalty award bands • Expertise designing dynamic pricing strategies based on enterprisewide data • Understanding of global data protection and privacy regulations and their impact on architecture and deployment models • Strong experience implementing enterprise grade NFRs including security, reliability, availability, observability, scalability, performance, retry mechanisms, reconciliation, and data governance • Experience evaluating platform health, capacity planning, and defining platform roadmaps • Hands on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, and AppDynamics • Experience with infrastructure sizing and capacity modeling • Familiarity with enterprise API gateways (Akana preferred) • Experience with application "shirt sizing,” architecture visioning, and roadmap development • Hands on programming experience with strong understanding of asynchronous and functional programming paradigms • Strong grasp of technical debt management and ability to balance architectural rigor with business priorities
