Role description
Description
We’re seeking a Cloud Engineer to join a Distributed Database Platform team within the financial services industry. This team is composed of highly experienced engineers, and we’re intentionally looking for someone with solid, hands-on experience (6+ years) who can bring fresh energy and balance to the group.
You’ll work on cloud‑native, non‑relational database platforms that support highly available, resilient systems. The environment emphasizes automation, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and collaborative problem‑solving. This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys modern cloud engineering without needing to be the most senior voice in the room.
Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.
Rate: $65 - $70 / hr. w2
Responsibilities
• Deploy, scale, and operate NoSQL / non‑relational databases in public cloud environments
• Build and maintain automation and CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, and artifact repositories
• Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform, OpenTofu, ARM templates, or CloudFormation
• Automate administrative and operational tasks using Python and scripting (shell, Groovy, or similar)
• Configure monitoring, alerting, and observability to support highly available platforms
• Triage and resolve production issues, participating in root cause analysis and outage resolution
• Collaborate closely with platform, application, and infrastructure teams in an open, transparent engineering culture
Experience Requirements
• 6+ years of professional experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure automation
• Background supporting production systems in cloud environments
Must‑Have Skill
• Hands‑on experience using Markdown languages (Markdown, CommonMark, GitHub‑Flavored Markdown) within VS Code or modern IDEs to support automation, configuration artifacts, and streamlined developer workflows
Top Technical Skills
• Experience working with NoSQL databases
• Jenkins‑based automation
• Python scripting
• CloudFormation or equivalent IaC tooling
• Strong Linux/Unix fundamentals
• Public cloud experience (AWS and/or Azure)
Bonus / Nice‑to‑Have Skills
• Public cloud certifications (AWS or Azure)
• Experience deploying or supporting Kubernetes in the cloud
• Exposure to AI agents or workflow orchestration integrated with cloud‑native services
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
