Role description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and accessibility-driven developer with hands-on experience in Drupal, Salesforce, and Appian platforms. This role supports the remediation of websites and portals to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, Section 508, and ADA standards. You will play a critical role in remediating existing platform components and developing new, accessible features across enterprise systems used by public-sector agencies. Key Responsibilities:Accessibility Remediation & Development: Analyze and remediate accessibility violations in Drupal, Salesforce, and Appian interfaces, templates, and components Collaborate with accessibility auditors and engineers to implement compliant fixes based on tools like WAVE, AXE, JAWS/NVDA, CommonLook, and PAC Ensure semantic HTML, ARIA roles, proper keyboard navigation, and screen-reader compatibility Remediate and refactor existing web content, Lightning components, and Appian forms to meet WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines Platform-Specific Development: Drupal: Customize themes, manage content types, templates, and ensure proper landmark/tagging for assistive technologies Salesforce: Develop compliant Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows, and Experience Cloud pages Appian: Design accessible SAIL interfaces, forms, and workflows, ensuring screen-reader compatibility and color contrast compliance Integration & Governance: Ensure API endpoints and integrated components between platforms follow accessibility metadata requirements (e.g., accessible labels, ARIA live regions) Participate in sprint planning with accessibility testing embedded in the CI/CD lifecycle Assist QA in regression testing and defect triage for accessibility-related issues Required Skills & Qualifications 3+ years of development experience across: Drupal (v9 or v10) Salesforce (Apex, LWC, Flow Builder) Appian (SAIL, Process Models, Records) Deep understanding of: WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508, ADA standards Semantic HTML5, ARIA roles, tab navigation, skip links, focus control Accessible design patterns for forms, modals, accordions, etc. Familiarity with: Screen reader behavior (JAWS, NVDA) Accessibility testing tools: axe-core, WAVE, Accessibility Insights, CommonLook, PAC 2024 RESTful APIs and JSON data structures Agile/Scrum environments and Jira ticketing systems Preferred Qualifications Certifications: Appian Level 1 or Level 2 Salesforce Platform Developer I Acquia Drupal Certification CPACC or WAS (IAAP accessibility certifications) Experience remediating state or federal government portals Background working with accessibility policies, VPATs, and compliance reporting Soft Skills Exceptional attention to detail and ability to understand accessibility nuances Ability to interpret audit reports and apply structured remediations Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams (Dev, QA, UX, Accessibility) Willingness to learn and stay current on emerging accessibility standards Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour Work Location: Remote
