Job Title: Drupal Accessibility specialist
Location:Austin,TX(Onsite)
Job description:We are seeking a detail-oriented and accessibility-driven Drupal specialist with hands-on experience in Drupal generated webpages. This role supports the remediation of websites and portals to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, Section 508, and ADA standards. You will play a critical role in remediating existing platform components and developing new, accessible features across enterprise systems used by public-sector agencies.Key ResponsibilitiesAccessibility Remediation & DevelopmentAnalyze and remediate accessibility violations in Drupal, Salesforce, and Appian interfaces, templates, and componentsCollaborate with accessibility auditors and engineers to implement compliant fixes based on tools like WAVE, AXE, JAWS/NVDA, CommonLook, and PACEnsure semantic HTML, ARIA roles, proper keyboard navigation, and screen-reader compatibilityRemediate and refactor existing web content, Lightning components, and Appian forms to meet WCAG 2.1 AA guidelinesPlatform-Specific DevelopmentDrupal: Customize themes, manage content types, templates, and ensure proper landmark/tagging for assistive technologies.Ensure API endpoints and integrated components between platforms follow accessibility metadata requirements (e.g., accessible labels, ARIA live regions)Participate in sprint planning with accessibility testing embedded in the CI/CD lifecycleAssist QA in regression testing and defect triage for accessibility-related issuesRequired Skills & Qualifications3+ years of development experience across:Drupal (v9 or v10)Deep understanding of:WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508, ADA standardsSemantic HTML5, ARIA roles, tab navigation, skip links, focus controlAccessible design patterns for forms, modals, accordions, etc.Working Knowledge in:Screen reader behavior (JAWS, NVDA)Accessibility testing tools: axe-core, WAVE, Accessibility Insights, CommonLook, PAC 2024RESTful APIs and JSON data structuresAgile/Scrum environments and Jira ticketing systemsPreferred QualificationsCertifications:Acquia Drupal CertificationCPACC or WAS (IAAP accessibility certifications)Experience remediating state or federal government portalsBackground working with accessibility policies, VPATs, and compliance reportingSoft SkillsExceptional attention to detail and ability to understand accessibility nuancesAbility to interpret audit reports and apply structured remediationsStrong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams (Dev, QA, UX, Accessibility)Willingness to learn and stay current on emerging accessibility standardsJob
