The Role We’re hiring a backend-leaning software engineer — someone who wants to build and own the foundations of an AI-powered platform at scale. You’ll join a small, fast-moving team, work closely with the founders, and ship real product from day one. This is a high-impact, zero-to-one role: you’ll be a core member of our in-person product & engineering team. We’ve doubled revenue in the past 3 months and are on track to grow faster — and with that growth comes a need to scale infrastructure, build complex data integrations, and invent new product experiences powered by AI. What you’ll work on • Design, build, and scale backend systems using Python, FastAPI, and Postgres • Build and design production-level AI Agents using LangChain • Architect and maintain REST APIs across our product line: CRM, inbox, campaign, and automations • Build and manage data pipelines with platforms like Shopify, Faire, WooCommerce, Quickbooks, and Gmail • Build customer-facing AI features using state-of-the-art models (OpenAI, Claude, open-source) • Scale our deployment infrastructure (Docker, Google App Engine) to keep up with our growth momentum • Debug issues across the stack, support our customer team, and shape product direction alongside design You might be a fit if you • Have 2+ years of software engineering experience • Can own projects end-to-end — from architecture to implementation and deployment • Are fluent in backend development, particularly in Python and FastAPI • Have worked with REST APIs and relational databases like Postgres or MySQL • Write clean, scalable, well-tested code and know when to move fast vs. get it right • Are excited by early-stage environments where you wear multiple hats and drive your own roadmap Extra points for: • DevOps experience (Docker, GCP, CI/CD) • Experience building data pipelines or ETL processes • Experience with prompt engineering or building customer-facing AI products • Prior startup or founder experience Why Overjoy?
