Role description
Title: Elastic Search Engineer
Location: Baltimore MD (21202) or Evansville IN 47708(Hybrid)
Contract Length: 6 months with extension or conversion
Pay Range: $65 - $72/Hour
Must Haves:
• 5+ years hands-on experience managing Elasticsearch in enterprise environments.
• Proven ability to design, deploy, and maintain ELK/Elastic Stack at scale.
• Strong knowledge of Elasticsearch internals -nodes, shards, replicas, indexing, APIs, aggregations.
• Expertise in automation and scripting (Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform).
• Solid experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Understanding of distributed systems, networking, and storage concepts.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles.
• Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and communication skills.
• Nice-to-Haves / Plusses:
• Elastic Certified Engineer / Observability Engineer.
• AWS or Azure certifications.
• Experience migrating Elasticsearch from on-prem to cloud.
• Security and compliance monitoring exposure.
• SRE or software development background.
D2D:
• Architect & build large-scale Elasticsearch and ELK stack solutions (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
• Manage operations: monitor clusters, tune performance, handle indexing, query optimization, and resolve incidents.
• Automate infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, Python, and CI/CD tools.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with DevOps, AppDev, and Security teams to integrate Elasticsearch into broader systems and pipelines.
• Perform upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime.
• Maintain documentation: architecture diagrams, runbooks, dashboards, and metrics.
• Evaluate new Elastic features and lead proofs-of-concept for advanced capabilities (e.g., ML, cross-cluster replication).
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying automation and performance enhancement opportunities.
