Role description
Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) Duration: 2-year initial contract Position Overview The client is seeking multiple consultants to join the Clinical Informatics Department during a critical Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation and optimization project. We are hiring for two distinct tracks under one posting: β€’ Track 1: Clinical/EMR Specialist – Focused on clinical workflows, system configuration, and end-user adoption. β€’ Track 2: Revenue Cycle Analyst – Focused on financial data, billing workflows, and revenue performance. Both tracks serve as integral members of the EHR implementation team, collaborating with executive leadership, clinical leaders, operational leaders, finance, and vendor representatives to ensure the successful adoption and optimization of the hospital’s new EHR system. Candidates with expertise in either clinical informatics/EMR build or revenue cycle systems are encouraged to apply. Please indicate your primary area of expertise in your application. Core Responsibilities (Both Tracks) β€’ Support the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and ongoing optimization of the hospital’s EHR across multiple domains. β€’ Participate in system testing activities, including unit testing, user acceptance testing, go-live readiness, and post-implementation optimization. β€’ Collaborate with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to translate end-user needs into system functionality and process improvements. β€’ Contribute to project planning, governance, implementation workgroups, and change management initiatives. β€’ Support cutover planning, go-live command center activities, and issue tracking/risk mitigation. β€’ Assist in developing implementation timelines and coordinating stakeholder engagement throughout design, build, testing, training, and stabilization phases. β€’ Participate in occasional on-site meetings at hospital locations as needed to support EHR implementation and optimization activities. Track 1: Clinical/EMR Specialist – Key Responsibilities β€’ Design, build, and maintain clinical documentation tools (e.g., templates, order sets, clinical decision support) aligned with clinical standards and regulatory requirements. β€’ Analyze clinical and operational workflows and translate end-user needs into system configuration requirements. β€’ Provide training, guidance, and at-the-elbow support to clinical staff to promote EHR adoption and effective system use. β€’ Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, data quality, and patient care outcomes through workflow redesign and system optimization. β€’ Facilitate workflow design sessions and translate clinical requirements into system specifications. β€’ Support organizational change management, stakeholder engagement, user adoption strategies, and workflow transformation initiatives. Track 2: Revenue Cycle Analyst – Key Responsibilities β€’ Develop and maintain operational and financial reports related to revenue cycle performance, including billing activity, claims submission, reimbursements, denials, and collections. β€’ Analyze revenue cycle data to identify trends, operational inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve billing accuracy, reimbursement, and financial performance. β€’ Support revenue cycle reporting and financial reconciliation activities during EHR system implementation, including participation in revenue cycle-related system build, configuration, and validation. β€’ Collaborate with clinical informatics, revenue cycle leadership, finance staff, and IT to define reporting requirements and develop dashboards to support operational decision-making. β€’ Participate in the build, configuration, and maintenance of revenue cycle-related EHR components (e.g., billing workflows, charge capture support, revenue cycle reporting objects) under Clinical Informatics governance. β€’ Document reporting processes, data definitions, and maintain compliance with state and federal reporting requirements. Qualifications Track 1: Clinical/EMR Specialist β€’ Education: Bachelor's degree required in Nursing, Health Informatics, Clinical Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Master's degree strongly preferred. β€’ Experience: Minimum of five (5) years in healthcare operations, clinical informatics, EHR implementation, or clinical systems support. At least two (2) years of direct involvement in an EHR implementation, optimization, upgrade, or conversion project strongly preferred. β€’ Technical Skills: Experience with EHR platforms such as WellSky, Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or other enterprise healthcare systems. β€’ Certifications (Preferred): CPHIMS, CAHIMS, ANCC Nursing Informatics Certification, PMP, or Prosci Change Management Certification. β€’ Core Competencies: Strong knowledge of clinical workflows, healthcare compliance (HIPAA), and regulatory requirements. Direct clinical practice experience (e.g., nursing, lab, pharmacy, radiology) is preferred but not required. Track 2: Revenue Cycle Analyst β€’ Education: Associate or bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). β€’ Experience: Minimum of three (3) years supporting healthcare revenue cycle operations, financial systems, or healthcare reporting. β€’ Technical Skills: Experience with hospital revenue cycle systems or EHR platforms. Proficiency with healthcare reporting tools or business intelligence platforms. β€’ Core Competencies: Knowledge of revenue cycle processes (billing, claims, reimbursement, collections), payer reimbursement methodologies, denial management, and revenue cycle performance metrics. Ability to analyze large data sets and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Additional Skills & Requirements (Both Tracks) β€’ Preferred Settings: Experience in long-term acute care hospital, behavioral health, psychiatric, forensic, long-term care, state hospital, or correctional healthcare settings is a plus. β€’ Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both technical and operational stakeholders, serving as a liaison between disciplines. β€’ Training & Adoption: Experience leading training sessions across various levels of the organization and guiding adoption of new technologies. β€’ Data & Compliance: Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare compliance, patient privacy laws (HIPAA), and quality reporting. β€’ Analytical Ability: Ability to analyze operational processes and translate findings into system or workflow improvement recommendations.
