Title: Sr. AI/ML Engineer Location: Charlotte, NC Duration:6 Months+ Mode: Hybrid Job Description: β€’ Client is seeking a Senior Prompt Engineer to support enterprise AI initiatives by standardizing and optimizing prompt engineering practices across business units. β€’ This contingent role is based on site in Charlotte, NC. The core competencies are: Understanding of LLM Behavior: β€’ How large language models process tokens, context windows, and temperature settings. β€’ Knowledge of prompt injection risks and mitigation strategies. Prompt Design & Optimization: β€’ Techniques like few-shot prompting, chain-of-thought, role prompting, and zero-shot learning. β€’ Ability to structure prompts for clarity, specificity, and adaptability. Natural Language Processing (NLP) Fundamentals: β€’ Tokenization, embeddings, semantic similarity. β€’ Understanding of text generation, summarization, and classification. Critical Thinking & Creativity: β€’ Ability to break down complex tasks into smaller steps. β€’ Crafting prompts that balance constraints and flexibility. Evaluation & Iteration: β€’ Designing A/B tests for prompt performance. β€’ Using metrics like BLEU, ROUGE, or human evaluation for quality. Ethics & Safety: β€’ Awareness of bias, fairness, and responsible AI principles. β€’ Techniques for avoiding harmful or sensitive outputs. Basic Programming Skills: β€’ Python for automation and API integration. β€’ Familiarity with JSON for structured outputs. Required Qualifications: β€’ 3 plus years of experience in AI/ML, NLP, or related fields, with hands-on exposure to Generative AI systems. β€’ 7 plus years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, education. β€’ Strong understanding of LLMs, prompt-response dynamics, and model limitations. β€’ Proficiency with platforms like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Vertex AI, or similar. β€’ Excellent analytical and communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical teams. β€’ Ability to document and standardize processes for scalability. Preferred Qualifications: β€’ Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Linguistics, or related discipline. β€’ Experience with advanced prompt techniques (e.g., chaining, RAG, context injection). β€’ Familiarity with enterprise AI governance frameworks and risk mitigation strategies. β€’ Prior experience in regulated industries such as finance or healthcare. In this contingent resource assignment, candidate may: β€’ Consult as an expert to develop or influence initiatives and resources for highly complex business and technical needs across Engineering. β€’ Consult on the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, and advanced analytical and inductive thinking. β€’ Provide expertise to client senior leadership on innovative Engineering business solutions. β€’ Strategically engage with client personnel.
