Job Title: Engineer Software 2
Job Description
This role focuses on developing and supporting embedded real-time software for EA-18G programs, including Growler Block 1 and Growler Block 2. As part of the EA-18G software team, you will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, working closely with cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality, mission-critical solutions. The position is primarily on-site at Naval Air Warfare Center Point Mugu and at an associated office location, where you will collaborate directly with customers and internal engineering teams.
Responsibilities
β’ Develop embedded real-time system software for EA-18G Growler Block 1 and Growler Block 2 programs.
β’ Work in an Agile environment as an active member of a scrum team, participating in planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
β’ Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software and system defects throughout the development lifecycle.
β’ Collaborate closely with customers, internal engineering sites, and multidisciplinary teams to clarify requirements and ensure technical alignment.
β’ Participate in and contribute to peer reviews, critical milestone reviews, and technical interchange meetings to maintain code quality and design integrity.
β’ Use project-specific tools such as Rational ClearCase, ClearQuest, and DOORS to manage configuration, change tracking, and requirements.
β’ Leverage modern development and collaboration tools including Git, Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence to support version control, issue tracking, and documentation.
β’ Design, implement, test, and maintain software using languages such as C, C++, C#, and Python for real-time and general-purpose applications.
β’ Develop and integrate software targeting Green Hills Integrity RTOS, as well as Windows and Linux operating systems.
β’ Support the full software lifecycle on large-scale, formal Department of Defense programs, including design, implementation, integration, test, and maintenance.
β’ Apply object-oriented software development principles to create modular, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
β’ Contribute to electronic warfare system development and design activities as required by program needs.
Essential Skills
β’ Bachelorβs degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Masterβs degree in a STEM field with at least 1 year of relevant experience. In some cases, a Bachelorβs degree in a STEM field with 5 years of experience or a Masterβs degree in a STEM field with 3 years of experience is also referenced.
β’ Experience working with a higher order programming language such as C, C++, or C#.
β’ Knowledge of object-oriented software development principles and practices.
β’ Proven ability to function effectively as a member of an integrated, cross-functional team.
β’ Experience using version control systems such as Git, Bitbucket, or ClearCase.
β’ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance or higher; an interim Secret clearance is acceptable.
β’ United States citizenship, as required for access to specific defense-related programs.
