Role description
Job Title Epic Data Engineer Location: Remote (Preference for local Michigan candidates) Schedule Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Standard Hours: 40 hours/week Type Contract (W2 Only) Pay Rate $80–85/hr Summary We are seeking an experienced Epic Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions across both on-premises and cloud environments. This role will focus on developing robust data pipelines, optimizing data architecture, and transforming complex healthcare data into reliable, actionable datasets. The ideal candidate will have strong programming experience and expertise within Epic’s Cogito, Clarity, and Caboodle data environments. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, test, and deploy ELT/ETL processes across multiple data sources and platforms with minimal supervision • Build and optimize scalable data pipelines to support business intelligence and analytics initiatives • Collaborate with architects, data analysts, BI developers, and data scientists to deliver high-quality data solutions • Analyze and identify patterns within complex datasets to improve data usability and reliability • Provide operational support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for data warehouses, datasets, and pipeline-related issues • Participate in the design and implementation of conceptual, logical, and physical data models • Implement and maintain CI/CD processes to streamline data delivery and reduce manual intervention • Ensure adherence to SDLC best practices and organizational standards for data governance and security • Maintain compliance with regulations related to PHI and PII data handling • Contribute to Agile ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and technical solutioning • Mentor and provide guidance to junior and mid-level engineers on best practices and technical development Required Qualifications • Must have Epic certifications in Cogito Fundamentals, ClarityData Model, and Caboodle Data Model • Strong programming experience with proven ability to build and optimize data pipelines • Minimum 5+ years of experience in data engineering, application development, or system development lifecycle (coding, testing, implementation) • Hands-on experience with data warehousing and business intelligence concepts • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues • Ability to work effectively within a diverse technology stack and independently manage workload • Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred • Additional Epic certifications (Cogito Tools Administration or Caboodle Development) • Experience working with Snowflake • Experience with Facets • Prior healthcare data experience strongly preferred #INDPRO
